Fly By Wire A320NX only follows 1st leg of route or disregards enitire route

Hello,

The A320NX latest stable version is showing two kinds of behavior for me:

  • Only follows first leg of a route
  • Does not follow the route at all

Conditions

  1. Flypad selected to NONE for MSFS plan syncing
  2. Detailed SimBrief plan filled in - departure, destination, arrival/dept runways, sids/stars, altitudes, correct airplane selected.
    2a. SimBrief account synced to FlyPad and MCDU in the plane. No problems there.
  3. Game loaded and A320NX selected
  4. SimBrief plan loaded from world map
  5. Airplane loaded and these instructions followed:
    SimBrief Integration - FlyByWire Simulations Documentation
    MCDU populates all these fields instantly without issues when it sucks them down from the SB account.
  6. Flight plan appears perfectly on the nav display. All waypoints correctly shown, route displayed as solid line and verified using PLAN mode on the display, each leg checked using MCDU arrow keys.
  7. On departure once AP engaged (MANAGED mode) the plane either tracks the first leg perfectly and then ignores the rest OR it does not track anything

Would anyone be able to advise on what I can do? I’ve looked in all the manuals online but I know its something I’m messing up (because everyone else is flying this jet just fine). Thanks!

Im in the process of fitting a new SSD to the PC and transferring the game to that. Once up and running I will take those shots, something I should have done initially now that I think about it! Thanks for your reply :slight_smile:

First of all, check if you have a DISCONTINUITY in your MCDU flightplan page. If so from that point on the Bird does not know what to do and will stay on present heading. Remove the DISCONTINUITY and she will follow the flightplan. I also checked Simbrief for the same flightplan and I got a different flightplan like this “ CA2B CA T3 MOVMO MOVM1E “ as routing between WIII to WADD.

This usually happens when you have no runway selected in the MCDU. It should still sequence the legs but this is currently a bug.

Note that you should probably be setting a runway anyway.

Either that, or you flew through a discontinuity. it is important to be aware of the flight plan and what the aircraft is doing when problems occur. Without screenshots no one can really know what happened.

I will check for that on my next test flight thanks and will also check the routing of the flight. Will generate a new one or try one of the historical ones I see listed.

Thanks for this interesting info, I will make sure to check for this. I have just installed the game to the new drive so will set it up and then do a test flight using the suggestions you have all given.

This problem has existed for a long time…
After importing the flight plan using SimBrief, the routes in the MDCU will have breakpoints…
If you don’t make up the breakpoint manually, it will fly straight and no longer navigate.
So manually making up the breakpoints can fully navigate the entire planned route…
But there is one more problem…
When the control tower provides the landing runway information before the flight to the destination and the approach procedure is changed, the navigation will no longer continue and will only continue to fly forward…
And these problems don’t just happen on FBW’s planes…
The same problem occurs on other aircraft that can also be imported into the SimBrief program
So I wonder if there is something wrong with this part of SimBrief…

No there is nothing wrong with simbrief. There is something wrong with your understanding of how aircraft flight plans work and what proper procedures are.

I suggest watching a few videos on the topic by a pilot who can explain the procedure.

Yes Im likely missing out a step. I will give it one last shot. As much as I really like the airplane I’ve lost many days trying to get around this.

If I’m unsuccessful again I’ll uninstall the NX and hop back in the Asobo 320neo. Will go watch some videos and try to make this work first ! :grinning:
