FlyingIron BF 109 G-6

First flight without any crashes or problems.
This gem is worth it’s price for the sound alone.

Love it ! Thanks and best regards from Germany :germany:

Before I jump in, I have to ask how does this compare to the inibuilds bf108 Taifun. I am asking because I regret it so much, I find it very twitchy, pulls left like a madman and is not nice to fly. I dont want another plane like that, so how is this one.

I am honest, this is no Plane you can leave the Stick and get a Beer out of the Fridge. Yes you have to pull the Stick a little right to fly straight, set a Axis to Elevator-Trim for better Smoothness. But when you take off and land savely with average Crosswind you can get a Beer. This Plane is rewarding when you learn to master this Piece of great Aircraft. The Taifun’s Systems are not equal to the 109. In the 109 every Switch and System is modeled in the right Way. Water and Oil warming up and cooling down in Realtime. Starting the Engine and warming up alone is fulfilling. Soundwise this Thing is awesome. The Best Thing on starting the Engine is there is no Gap between Starter and Idle-Sound as in the Hellcat. Yes you need the right Winds on T/O and Landings, but if you love Sounds, Learning, German Planes and Speeeeed you need this Plane. If you have or like A2A Accusim P-51, Spitfire, P-40 and T-6 you must buy this.

Thank you for the great information. I love complex planes, and love learning them.

I don’t know if it is my controls or just me, but I hate planes that always pull to one side violently, it is very frustrating.

I get it about take off landing etc, but when a plane is pulling to the left all the time it’s very annoying, I think on the SIM it is over done, but what do I know.

Thanks

I’m not getting any GPS signal anymore, but guess this isn’t a FI BF109 problem specifically as I noticed it on another plane with same unit.

Is there an issue or solution I missed with this? Did AAU2 break them? Not using any mods for this unit.

Edit: Never mind, needed to update WT GNS530 Compatibility and all good now.

I would say, the 109 does lack rudder trim and, in real life the aileron trim is set and cannot be adjusted though for the sim it can be through the tablet however I would say the directional forces of the engine are difficult to trim out fully and the aircraft doesn’t fly hands off. I would say that the Flying Iron Hellcat, designed with long distance flying in mind, has all three trim axis available in the cockpit and you can trim the aeroplane out quite nicely at set speeds. So perhaps if you’re after an aircraft that doesn’t dance about so much the Hellcat is the better option? I would say that they are pretty much on par in terms on quality too.

Fixed it for you. In reality, each plane would be set up on the ground (how accurately, who knows), so it’s not unreal that you can adjust it through the tablet. For most realism, it would be a set and forget setting, not one to be adjusted once you feel the plane flies like you like in most flight phases.

Finished another livery. It depicts the Bf 109 F-4 “Gelbe 14” flown by Hans-Joachim Marseille (158 air victories).

I was talking about in flight. Yes it is technically possible however I’ve never heard of any wartime or post restoration that has adjusted the trim in any way.

The only field modifications I know of being used in now is the overcharge of the left wheel to compensate the torque.

Yes, I knew that’s what you meant, and maybe most people would. You didn’t say it explicitly though, and I thought it might not be clear to everyone. That’s why I added it. I didn’t mean to offend you.

All planes are “rigged” for stable flying after they are put together. Many planes, like the C152 and C172 for instance, I’ve actually looked at those planes for it, have tabs that are meant to be bent for the purpose of trimming. Also, planes are often re-rigged as they tend to bend over time.

There’s a ton of info out there on rigging planes

Point being, it’s perfectly reasonable to have an aileron trim setting in the tablet. But yes, unlike if you actually had a trim knob to use in the plane, I would set it to where I like in cruise, then leave it that way for the sake of reality.

In my search for videos, I came across this… hope people find it interesting

After two weeks working on this one, I’ve got my repaint of the restored Bf 109G-6 WkNr. 410077 (N42109) available now here: https://flightsim.to/file/57719/messerschmitt-bf-109g-6-wknr-410077-n42109

The landing gear legs appear to be completely wrong in the Flying Iron BF109 G6, they are both too long and too thin, actually it appears a RC model airplane

Actually I recommend spawning in with scattered clouds it will help you keep the plane straight centered on the runway. Pick a cloud a head of you and use it to keep your plane on a straight course.

I saw some in progress shots of this skin on the Discord for FI, glad to see it released, I’ll be grabbing it for sure!

What are you basing your comment on? Did you measure it?

I have yet to fly it in the sim, so haven’t looked at it up close yet, but, from the pictures they look fine to me, compared to pictures of real ones and the one I’ve seen at the museum I docent at.

I’m sure they took their dimensions from drawings and measurements of real ones. The only thing developers get wrong sometimes is the way the oleos compress under the weight of the plane. Be careful, too, if comparing dimensions in the sim, that you load it up, as that will compress the oleos more. By default, MSFS loads planes quite lightly (which has a lot to do with people complaining about planes not meeting “book” numbers).
