Flysimware Cessna 414A

Interesting to hear of your troubles.
I have personally been plagued by random CTD’s recently. I have been goin crazy removing items and trying different aircraft and all the common solutions but for the life of me, I cannot isolate the issue or even discern any type of pattern to the behavior.
Frustrating to say the least as I have wanted to start taking longer and progressive trips with the 414 but the sim itself is just not allowing that to happen these days. Of course there is also the random flight where everything works just fine which only serves to reinforce my own insanity.
I hope that SU10 brings sim improvements because this aircraft is just too much fun to give up on now!

I’ve had no crashes so far since I disabled ATC audio. It’s only a matter of time till another source of CTD’s occurs but I plan to fly like this for the next month or two. If I don’t get a crash in say a month, I think that is a reliable indication that ATC Azure TTS could at least be a candidate for seemingly random crashes.

It could also be a sound device conflict - I use headphones plugged in to a front audio jack on my PC, running through on-board audio using Sound Blaster Recon 3Di drivers. Unfortunately nVidia insists on installing audio drivers for my monitor, which doesn’t even have built-in speakers, as well as video drivers.
The way to remove the nVidia High Definition Audio is to open Start > Settings > System > Sound then click on Manage sound devices and disable NVIDIA High Definition Audio.
Of course, if you’re using the nVidia drivers then you’d disable the on-board audio instead.

Yes, already done.

I’ve long thought that Azure TTS was a potential trigger for crashes.

Luckily I haven’t experienced that so far, but if disabling ATC audio works I’ll certainly do it when the inevitable happens!

That would make a lot of sense in my case. There sure as heck is not any other repeatable causes that I can find.

Thank you very much !! :grinning: :+1:

All credits to Jaydee… actually my first flight was not so successfull. A/P disconnected maybe due to bad winds. Pitched up some 2,800 ft/min, eventually stalled, and I overstressed the a/c when going down lol.

Also happend that my left and right engines were not synchronized. Right engine had only half rpm. Dont know what happend. Must be pilots error.

I had some strange behavior with the AP but I think that this aircraft need some that the aircraft is stable and well trimmed before to activate the AP (assumption based on my very little experience of this aircraft so far, so maybe I am wrong)

Thanks for the feedback, I will keep an eye on the engines gauges

The AP still needs a little work. Pitch is definitely better, but on roll it can be very aggressive for very little change, like 5 degrees. Conversely I have seen it make a turn too late, overshoot, and continue to turn hard to get back on course.

Hi all. For anyone that is not on Discord, the developer posted some videos to that platform yesterday that show the de-ice boots in action. I presume this will be an enhancement that is made soon. The animation of the boots themselves is outstanding. For anyone that has watched boots inflate in real life, you will be happy to see that the individual chambers of the boots are modeled. Very nice detail for the aircraft. I would share the videos here but I am not quite sure how as they are not YT videos. Anyway, nice de-ice boot animations are coming.

You also dont refuel an aircraft, load passengers, luggage, tun on and off GPU’s Aircarts, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc that are being put into a tablet or in hidden menus in FMS’s.

I think you’re flogging a dead horse. The devs have good reasons for not doing it and that should be respected. See this:

I doubt that what’s said here on this will have much influence anyway, if any at all. Discord is where the devs are properly involved and where the decisions are made, not here. I expect you’d get the same answer from the devs there. Their time is being spent on things which add much more value than this.

I gave my beta feedback, my job is done. If the devs don’t agree with the feedback that is their choice.

But that doesn’t mean I was wrong in saying it would be better to decouple the avionics from the livery, it just means they don’t want to do that.

For me it will mean that when I go a few months in between using the 414, when I come back to it I’ll have to remember it is the weird aircraft where I have to choose the right livery to get the pms50 integration, unlike all my other ones where it is in the tablet.

I wonder if it’s feasible to remove the unwanted liveries from the aircraft install folder? I’ll try this when I get home.

I only really fly one version of the C414, the PMS50 version.

Similar problem with the Kodiak - tonnes of liveries all for different cabin configs and cargo pods.

Would be nice to just have the versions you want.

To be fair it doesn’t need to be a tablet. I’m sure there was one plane where you flipped a switch on the panel to choose the GPS.

any solution where it can be chosen from the cockpit rather than by the livery choice would be better in my opinion, but regardless I still like the 414 a lot.

Have a look at this post of mine from this thread a few days ago - I never did find out why the PMS50 version of the livery doesn’t appear and since it’s one I don’t use I stopped looking. But it looks like MSFS is a lot like every flight sim back to sublogic in that different versions are created by FLTSIM.0 FLTSIM.1 FLTSIM.2 etc entries in a .cfg file - if you really want to poke around you could probably just comment out the sections that load panels you don’t use.

Excellent idea! I think it’s the aircraft.cfg file.
