Foreflight and other planners

Hi, my first post in the forum so Hello

Anyone use Foreflight as map, flight planning and for IFR flights?

It is absolutely brilliant in Pro and Pro plus subscription as it superimposes your plane on the arrival plate and airport plans. The way in which you can select routes and how it works in game is the best I’ve seen. Only disadvantage is the flight plans cannot be imported into the sim and after my free trail it will cost £300 a year for pro subscription so doubt I will use it. Basic subscription is good but doesn’t include the geo referencing.

I have asked Foreflight if they can do a special sim version for a reduced price but there are no plans. I also use Flight Events and Sky Vector.
Question is what is the best planner that people use?

TIA

I use graph paper and pencil plus Ordnance Survey maps here in the UK (1 inch to 1 mile)

Hey,

afaik, Foreflight is used for professional use. For the use in flight sims many people rely on SimBrief. Be aware that it uses outdated data in the free version. If you like to use up-to-data information you can subscribe to Navigraph charts (around 10 bucks a month) and link it to SimBrief. It basically uses the same charts and navigation data as Foreflight (current AIRAC data, Jeppesen charts) and provides a desktop app.

SimBrief also offers a desktop application to “upload” your flight plan to the sim so that you can load it there.

Little Navmap is also often recommended for flight planning, calculcations and other stuff - it’s really packed with features, yet still in beta.

For performance, weight and balance calculations for the A320 you can use http://www.wabpro.cz/A320/ and https://www.allmetsat.com/ for weather information (disclaimer: MSFS still has trouble with live weather).

Best part about Little Navmap is that it’s free  It’s amazing that such a piece of software is provided free of charge.

Brilliant thanks I will check them out. Yes Foreflight is for professional pilots and suppose they probably make money to pay for the subscription. Cheers

Cool, I’m a Drone pilot so actually have air maps for my area…never thought I could use them d’oh! :joy:
