FPS performance - VRAM bug?

Hello Guys !
Well… I did a flight to Nairobi today… All has been smooth but not landing neither take off (At FPS level)
I did not look at my FPS, specifcally, but sure they were under 5 FPS at this phases !

I noticed that when the stutters (or bad FPS) occurs, it is when the figure of “COPY” (high right) in this screenshot is above 3 or 4%.

If it can help, or if someone can help me…

This are my specs :
-Ryzen 7 5800x
-32GB Ram
-RTX 3070 ti (8go)
-Last driver, last DLSS, Preset K

The texture quality even at low is producing lost of FPS.

I think i found out that turning OFF Resizable bar and hardware scheduling (And using FSR3 as Frame Generator) gives me the best performance so far

we are improving… Asobo is starting to show some muscles… we are starting to see some glimmers of light… the only thing I don’t understand now is that despite being at low fps the simulator runs well… maybe they are fixing other things in parallel…

I can confirm that turning off the rebar or resizable bar improves ground performance for the RTX NVD. In terms of starting, lower vram usage.

ReBAR should never be turned off

Can you provide some reasoning? It’s had some pretty black-and-white positive impacts on several users, myself included (though I could stand to do a bit more A-B testing, initial results are impressive with it off). What’s the downside?

So I recognize that this is not everyone’s experience, but I feel like I have to share this start side-by-side of a test case I did back in early December with that exact same test case now on 1.4.10.0. Everything in the second example is identical to the first other than the sim version, the fact that I am now leveraging FSR 3.1 Frame Gen as made available in SU2, and I am currently testing with Re-BAR and hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling both disabled.

December 2024:

April 2025, 1.4.10.0:

I think those speak for themselves at this point.

Nice, and look at the difference in RAM usage too, way way down. Have you noticed any regressions in graphics quality?

Hard to say as I was never able to play on the ultra preset previously without compromises (usually lowering Texture Resolution and disabling Raytraced Shadows). Certainly doesn’t look bad!

Your conclusion will be attended !!!

I tried turning Hardware Accellaration and noticed that the GPU was 100%. I turned it on and I noticed that the GPU is stable at 70% Plus or Minus.

From the screenshot below Notice that my GPU is 8GB right now the GPU is at 7.5 and does not go above that.

How ever the in-sim monitoring shows that my GPU is 6.5 and the sim is using 8.4. I do have stuttering and is not smooth dispite the numbers you see here.

Loaded in JFK default scenery with Fenix A319.

Graphics Setting:

I have a laptop in which runs FS2020 smooth no micro stuttering, but for some reason in FS2024 Beta 2 i see some stutters. out of the Beta.

here is my Specs:

That’s because the new Dev Mode is reporting RAM usage correctly where as the old one wasn’t. And I think it’s showing only sim ram usage.

I have confirmed the ram usage shown is being used by the sim. I confirmed with both task manager and HW Monitor.

But what I find odd is my Virtual is sometimes over retail budget even though I have apx 40 gigs available. I will note performance with the latest build is the best in my case.

I have seen some posts about resizable bar ON or OFF and i want to see myself what the differences are.

I test it with MSFS2024 and MSFS2020.
Test location RW06 EHRD inside cockpit and outside after 3 min. stable.

MSFS2024
ReBar OFF - inside fps 105, Vram 8.483 GB - outside 92 fps, Vram 8.381 GB.
ReBar ON - inside fps 107, Vram 9.068 GB - outside 95 fps, Vram 9.010 GB.

Little bit lower fps and Vram use with ReBar OFF then with ReBar ON.

MSFS2020
ReBar OFF - inside fps 62, Vram 9.502 GB - outside 51 fps, Vram 9.918 GB.
ReBar ON - inside fps 62, Vram 10.049 GB - outside 51 fps, Vram 10.157 GB.

FPS equal, but little bit less Vram use with ReBar OFF.

In my opinion, the differences are not shocking, but overall the Vram use is a little bit lower with ReBar OFF.

VRAM and performance are no better in SU2 Beta.

Such a shame. What those guys do? They at least know how to code? My guess is that everything is made by GPT or, as it is a MS product, Copilot.

You are using to much vram! Lower your texture resolution.

A month ago Asobo said they couldn’t find a smoking gun for the excessive VRAM usage, and so are reduced to optimising the airports to try to mitigate the effect. Nothing has really changed since.

Isn’t it time for Asobo to bite the bullet and re-introduce an option to use DX11 in place of the VRAM-hungry DX12, as we had in FS2020?

Some graphical options might become unavailable for those who choose to switch but I think that’s a trade-off many users (including myself) would be willing to make.

So we can find it just by using task manager but they can’t find it with a team of over 300 people, seems reasonable
