Is there a way to show frame rates in the cockpit view as was the case with FSX?
Dev mode will allow you to do that.

If you have a nvidia card you can press alt+Z and set the fps overlay

There is some options here:

Developer mode: Enable developer mode in settings, and you will find it in the menu line on the top when in the sim.

Windows Gamebar: Press WIN key + G in game and pin the FPS counter…

Steam: In game: Press SHIFT + TAB and then settings, show FPS.
I personally use the Steam overlay as I find it the least intrusive (Note: you must have the steam edition for this). There may also be other external programs that have generic in game overlays, such as NZXT Cam (but this application disables keyboard inside MSFS when enabled, so useless for me.).
