Frame rates have halved since new patch

Well if that’s the case… Thank You!
Seriously, I appreciate it.

While it’s not as smooth as before, it’s far better than it was. Enough to enjoy it until the next patch!

Great find! Thx for sharing.

Yeah i tried it with 30 render scaling with it in the same resolution as before i just put everything to the minimum settings possible just to see.

I just tried it at 50 and at 80 by the performance stayed exactly the same.
I’m not sure if it’s an in cockpit issue, as I noticed the fps and render latency is near the same as before in external view but the fps and render latency more than doubles in cockpit view.

There is a new version of the Nvidia driver, did you try it?
I don’t think it is related, but I saw people that actually fixed their issues just updating the drivers.

Do you use Nvidia Experience? Check if a profile for your settings was loaded there. This happened to me in the past already.

Not for everyone! MY frames are cut in half too and I’ve checked this FXAA setting 3 times. It is disabled!

Using Nvidia Experience? Check the profiles there.
Also, there is a new driver version available, try to do a clean install.

If I have to uninstall this sim, its not getting reinstalled. Ridiculous to have to do all the bs just to get it running halfway ok. My sim was running fine before this patch, nothing has been changed in my NVIDIA program nor is it changed in MSFS. Will try to update the drivers as that is the last thing that I haven’t tried.

Contrary to what some may believe some of us users do read and listen to what others say in the forum, so yes, I have already ensured that Geforce Experience is not the issue.

Apparently now the game wants to crash after you exit a flight now too.

Odd. Render scale has a big fps impact for me as soon as I get off the CPU main thread limit, also running 4K due to 4K monitor on a rig that can barely handle MSFS in 4K (RTX 2070 Super, i7-4790 4 cores @ 3.6GHz). I have never been render thread limited though.

One thing that struck me seeing people having fps showing green with less than 60 fps: There is a known bug affecting some of us where the fps limiter limits fps below the limit setting. E.g., if I set the fps limit to 60 fps I get a bit above 30 fps, if I set the fps limit to 30 fps I only get 20 fps.

I am sorry if my attempt to assist you was annoying.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

No your not annoying I’m just getting fed up when every patch released causes issues for people where none existed before.

I’m not sure what the new GeForce drivers are good for, they were released for the new Watch Dog Legions. Not seeing anything that would indicate they would do anything for MSFS. Am trying though who knows.

Well think i found my issue just turned of mfaa in nvidia control panel now with the same in game settings i had before I’m now getting the same fps as before.
Also since turning mfaa off in nvidia control panel the gpu utilization has gone back upto 99/100% like it used to before the latest update. before turning it off it was only going upto 90% in cockpit view.

It actually runs smoother over London than it did before.

No problem, I totally understand.

Also, the new driver has no fix for FS2020 and should not impact the performance at all.
Things are pretty random with the sim, so people try different combinations.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this, but it is what it is…

With me it’s just a habit, the always make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded philosophy

Great to hear that!

And always with clean install!

If you want to make 100% sure that you have a clean install, use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Where can this be changed?

Where can this be changed in settings?

I’ve got to say despite switching FXAA off, and getting the frames back up to mid 30’s for some reason the game just doesn’t feel as smooth as pre patch. It’s just constant micro stutters as if the frames are tanking. It’s just not that butter smooth experience I had before.

With a little work they could organize the graphics settings into buckets which would help users better manage their settings vs impacts.

Did you change it under msfs2020 or under globally?

Good shout re community folder. Seen reports that scenery and mods in here are causing big FPS issues
