Free xbox aircraft?

Logged on today FS20 Xbox series X to find a free GotFriends glider in my content manager, it certainly wasn’t there yesterday.

Anyone else had this unexpected and surprising arrival today?

Hello @Batterby76,

Do you also own MSFS 2024, and if so, which of these versions?

  • Standard
  • Deluxe
  • Premium Deluxe
  • Aviator Edition

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Yes I have the Aviator edition.

Hello @Batterby76,

I can confirm that the Pipistrel Taurus M, Air Tractor AT-802, and Powrachute Sky Rascal were all backported to MSFS (2020) today.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Ah, I own the others in 24 but not in 2020. They have to be purchased in 2020 even with Aviator edition of 24?

I think they should be free if you own the '24 edition, but they’re payware (very reasonable prices) if you only own the '20 version.

Now if only they’d get the Seastar retro-ported…

I own the Aviator Edition of MSFS 2024 but these 2024 default aircraft are still showing as requiring a purchase in MSFS (2020) - is that correct?

Fingers crossed they back port the Cessna 404 Titan.

@Zadma
Perhaps the aircraft are already in your Hangar / Content Manager?

I checked, they are not - and I believe the Marketplace card would show as “OWNED” where the price is, at least that’s how it works for other products.

I’ve heard it may just be a matter of some delay between the two sims, so maybe in a week or so they’ll show as owned.

2 are still showing as purchasable for me too, even though I have the Aviator edition.

Sky Rascal & Air Tractor.

Ive never flown them in 24 though.

Maybe it will update. Will have to wait and see

Would be neat if the MSFS team could confirm exactly how it works to prevent users from purchasing planes that they’ll eventually own because they own 2024 - it would certainly help prevent them from having to issue refunds to those users after the fact.

Agreed, or at least a time table of which are being back ported and roughly when to expect them.

Had no notice at all that these were becoming available

It was said in the last developer Q&A livestream that they would be introducing 2-3 default aircraft from MSFS 2024 into the MSFS (2020) Marketplace each month for the foreseeable future. Not all aircraft will be ported, but it did sound like the effort was to make many/most of them available in MSFS (2020) which is great. Even as someone who basically abandoned MSFS (2020) on November 19th, I’m still happy to see the sim grow in any capacity.

Ah thanks for the heads up, I dont always have time to catch up on the dev live streams.

Much appreciate the info :folded_hands:

@Zadma

FYI, I checked in my 2020 install. Since the SU16 update, I’ve received the mandatory AIRAC Cycle Update, plus, in Content Manager, a small 200MB update for the De Havilland Canada CL-415 and an available install of the Pipistrel Taurus M:

So it looks like these 2024 aircraft are trickling into 2020 over time. I’d suggest checking your Content Manager every few days or seeing if you have a new notification when you start 2020:

I see more have come to 2020.
Is there a list of which will be backported?
Would be nice to know to save the money for those i like as we have to pay again for them

Nothing official - just that “most but not all” would be ported over the course of the next few years.

Any idea as to why even though I own the Aviator edition of 24, I have to pay for some of these aircraft whilst others are downloadable for free?

I’ve heard the standard edition aircraft aren’t expected to transfer over as “owned” but any Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, and Aviator Edition exclusive aircraft should. So far I’ve seen that be true in most, but not 100% of, cases.
