[Freeware] Eindhoven Airport - EHEH (WIP)

No, I haven’t looked further into this yet so if you could, you can check if you can do this if you want. I was planning to create a Eindhoven Landscape package with them, separate from EHEH, so you can do that as well if you want

RinseV, do you have a tutorial on how to import Sketchup models from 3Dwarehouse, to MSFS, or a link to someone who has made a video on how to do it?

This is the video I used to import some basic SketchUp models into the game, but be aware that the process for importing Google Maps photogrammetry is not quite the same (biggest difference is in getting the models from Google Maps).

If you are looking into Eindhoven landmarks, please also include Het Evoluon. It looks flat currently in MSFS:

After some importing and tinkering, I’ve managed to import the following SketchUp models so far:

I still have to work on adding lighting at night and possibly looking into lower LOD models (although these models are already pretty light on the vertices count). Any other suggestions for scenery that should be added in Eindhoven? (I’ll look into Het Evoluon as well)

Effenaar would be nice as well, but don’t know if it’s recognizable as such from air

If you’re taking orders, I guess the Light Tower/Blob is a recognizable landmark.

Also the clock tower in Strijp-S.

Water Tower:

Catharina Church:

I didn’t check yet in MSFS how these look today, but I expect none will look too impressive.

Alright, with a little bit of searching in the SketchUp warehouse I was able to find the following models:

I haven’t been able to find a SketchUp model of “de Blob” yet, but I might need to look a bit further for that one. All of this aside, huge props to whoever Poul is, because he created a lot of buildings for Eindhoven and I could probably reconstruct the entire TU/e from just his models (probably won’t, but it’s possible). I’ll see if I can import these for now, but if they aren’t very noticeable from the sky I might delete them since I don’t want to have unnecessary models taking up performance. I’m open to other suggestions from Poul’s library, but do note that more models will take up more of your performance (although these models are very optimized).

Yeh, the reason why I proposed the idea for the Eindhoven Landmarks package was because I saw there were quite some buildings made already on the marketplace (and I read that MSFS actually handles high vertice count pretty well). As I have no real experience with modeling or perhaps have not the needed software, I just thought to throw it in.

Glad to see you were able to get this done!

Maybe you can create a package separate from the other Eindhoven Landmarks and recreate the terrain of the TU/E if you feel like it. This way people can choose the add additional buildings for TU/E. This would be the only exception and other buildings should be just placed in the landmark package  up to you ^^

I’ve imported some more models to liven up Eindhoven’s scenery a bit, I haven’t looked for a “Blob” model yet and I was unable to add the water tower(s) since MSFS doesn’t like semi-transparent textures, so I’d have to manually adjust the SketchUp model of the water tower(s) to be able to use those. Current list of buildings includes:

  • Philips Nederland
  • Philips Stadion
  • Eindhoven Centraal (north and south sides)
  • De Regent
  • Porthos (WoensXL)
  • Rabobank
  • Paterskerk / Augustijnenkerk
  • Catherinakerk
  • Stadhuis
  • Klokgebouw
  • Evoluon

I might look into making a separate TU/e scenery pack later, but I’d have to find a faster way to import these models, otherwise it’ll take forever to do the entire campus. For now I’ll focus on adding some lights at night (although most models already include them) and possibly making lower LOD models, but that probably won’t be necessary.

Great work, i cant wait.
The TU campus is also a great idea. :+1:t2:
maybe you can add Ikea to…:convenience_store:
If you are working on the night lighting, perhaps you can add somethings from Eindhoven “Glow” to…(the vertical laser light?).

Hope you can keep the file size down. Downloaded all the Rotterdam / amsterdam / ameland … just a few buildings … 1GB !!!

In this pace my 1tb ssd wil be full in notime ( padderborn 1.5 GB !! :joy:)

Thats 2.5 GB for 2 airports an a few buildings :joy::joy::see_no_evil:

Don’t worry, those sizes are mainly there due to using custom aerial images. Like when I tested out using Google Maps aerial images, it took EHEH to 1GB.

:+1: keep up the good work

I’ve released the initial version of my scenery pack, it can be found here.
Version 1.0 includes:

I’ll look for other models and see if I can add some more buildings, but I think this is a good start for now. I’m currently not using any lower LOD models, but I did manually add some lights although most models already had adequate lighting. When adding other / better models I’ll have to keep in mind the file size though, currently the package is 70 MB, and I’d like to keep it small, so I probably won’t add super high-quality models unless they are also very small in file size of course.

Thanks :+1:t2:
Performs well in the Sim.

Wow!
Thanx for the share :ok_hand:t2:

Looks great! If you fly in from EHEH to the center you pass almost all of the special buildings. Eindhoven really looks more recognizable now!

What is the relation to this version?

Not the same right?

Not to be disrespectful or downplay the work and effort that went into this. But the above looks like payware…

The Screenshots used to showcase that scenery look a lot like screens from this thread so I’d guess they’re the same…
