Freeware for Xbox

Hello everyone, I am writing this today to hopefully get an answer to this question. With the msfs 24 being in SU4 and not official announcement I was wondering what every happened tot he idea of bringing freeware to the marketplace for those that are in console? This I believe was an original idea for the 24 sim and was officially said by the team but still hasn’t come. So can anyone answer this? Am I missing something that was said at a later time?

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place as I am new to all this and looked around to try to find the best place.

I don’t think it’s been officially mentioned since a developer livestream some time in 2024 prior to the launch of the new sim. I would guess it has been deprioritized with all the work needed on the new sim.

Oh alright thanks for your input. Do you think this is still going to be implemented at some point?

“Think” is tough - I would say I hope so.

This is a most difficult question to answer as there are so many definitions of what people consider to be freeware.
Currently both FS2020 & 24 have Freeware available in the marketplace for both pc and console users.
It is limited to WU packages, Avionics upgrades, Scenery libraries etc.
How ever what “freeware” are users expecting?
Total access to content from .to?
Entirely free aircraft with unverified wasm guages?
Free livery packs?
I think the question of what freeware will (may) be allowed is more important currently than when it will be allowed.

I guess my expectation is that it will be allowed, but I have no expectation of what we’d actually get. There are numerous developers who release their freeware on the Marketplace and do so at the lowest allowable price. I would imagine some, if not all, of these devs would drop their price to $0 if they were permitted to do so.
