Freeze/Lags while touchdown - but fps around 50 while approaching

After applying the settings in the photo, I have not seen any stuttering in any of my recent flights, I am grateful to you. Was the whole problem really that land and sea traffic was not at a minimum? It feels weird

I am losing my mind with stutters on final approach and touchdowns on busy airports.
No matter how much I lower the LOD and traffic sliders, I’m always at yellow 23 ms mainthread with lots of red peaks when panning!

I have an I5 12400F - RTX 2060 12GB - 16GB RAM (2400mhz).
I tried multiple settings with the sliders and graphics but I always get a lot of red peaks with stutter.
I have “OFF SCREEN TERRAIN PRE CACHING” on ULTRA which gives me the least amount of sttuter but even so it becomes very difficult to fly.

Does anyone have an idea if I can try something else? Can be a problem the MHZ of my RAM?

Yes it worked for me so go to ur community folder and follow the routing

Community\fnx-aircraft-320\VisualEffectLibs\Fenix\fnx32x

and then delete “TouchDown Left/Nose/Right” and that should work. It worked for me but do at ur own risk!

Thanks Captain C

I have this issue also on PMDG, Flybywire, etc. It lags for about 1 second when touchdown, then its ok.

I wonder if, for those that often fly to & from large airports (Orly, Gatwick, LAX, Singapore, etc.), if adding the airports to your manual cache would help with the stutters on approach / landing? Has anyone tried this?
{Note: I run MSFS on a PC. I have no idea if this is doable on Xbox}

I think the manual cache only caches photogrammetry and not the actual add on scenery, otherwise this would probably fix the issue completely.

I made a video showing what I think is going on with these approach stutters.

im really disappointed that this issue still hasn’t ben resolved, even with SU15. I was really hoping that the update would’ve helped but i still have this issue of freezing right as the main wheels touchdown. I have 80+ FPS during the entire flight up to landing. It happens at big airports and even super tiny default airports in the middle of nowhere with no photogrammetry.

Agree that the issue doesn’t seem to have been resolved and I am no expert here, but just something to try.
I discovered recently that I was getting audio stuttering in a different program. Tried everything logical with my sound drivers, etc. to no avail. Then followed a MS Copilot suggestion to clear the MS page file. That fixed the stuttering.
I am thinking that if you have already tried cutting back the traffic settings to no avail, perhaps if you delete the rolling cache and then reinstate it, that might clear up your issue?

I delete the rolling cache everyday. I saw somesome mentioned that turning dev mode on helped them so im gonna try that later.today to see. I just wanna be able to land smoothly :joy:

Does it causes any CTD? I had some after disabling everything.

Hi @BeauV2004
Airport traffic density - both planes & ground vehicles - do have an impact on performance and can cause stutters, depending upon PC hardware, GPU software settings & MSFS settings.

I’d not suggest renaming folders within the …\Official\OneStore folder.

If you are getting stutters on approach or while taxiing at an airport, try lowering the Airport Life settings (under Options | General Option | Traffic) to a lower value or even zero.

That should eliminate the need for renaming folders in the …\Official\OneStore folder.

disable touchdown effects.

Did that months ago

My opinion is that this is caused by the sim recording the touchdown in the logbook/achievements? I assume a file is written for this and the split second time to write the file causes the freeze.

im in developer mode so its not logging anything. I saw that dev mode helped some people with this issue but for me its still happening. So now im not logging anything aaaaand the sim still freezes XD

So many variables, so many interactions, it’s like Whack-a-mole.
Ya really, really have to have lots of patience troubleshooting MSFS. Sometimes, as I have read in other forum threads, if you’ve reached the end of your rope, it’s ok to just accept it the way it is…
Personally, I am NOT in agreement with that philosophy.
In all truth, I generally enjoy troubleshooting and the challenges associated therewith, but to a limit! I never quite know, though, when I’ll reach that limit.

This actually really helped my stutter on touchdown. I paired it with deleting the Scenery Index every time I want to fly

Might as well turn it off then

Its been off.
