When this sim works, it works and is incredible.
When it doesnt, there goes hours of tweaking and lost flights.

Yeah, too bad it’s 100% visual and does not impact the flight at all.
I wouldnt say 100%. There was definitely noticeable turbulence flying through the storm clouds, i’ll settle on 90% though , its minimal ![]()
In my opinion they have not nailed Msfs until, when all realism is enabled in your settings, you need to plan your flight and it is very possible to botch the flight or the plane and there is real risk to setting off on your journey.
People needing to role play on their own that all these aspects that affect a flight, only pretending it matters when the sim actually doesn’t care, is a no go in my opinion. And I’m not even a pilot or seasoned simmer.
“The live weather can be magnificent”. That’s where you lost me. Why…?
You know, the weather consists of many parameters, like cloud coverage, barometric pressure, temperature, dew point, wind etc. I bet that either you got very lucky and most of these parameters were close to reality at this specific moment of your flight, or the engine just showed you something beautiful by accident.
Don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy the views from time to time but they’re usually not related to reality and not based on live weather (remember all of the parameters I mentioned, which need to be accurate—not perfect—for live weather).
Yep, got a bit frustrated with this Microsoft Scenery Simulator, I know… ![]()
I would give a sarcastic reply to this usually, something around you denying me a shred of joy in this miserable world with your smart words and alpha insider tag.
However, i have just CTD again so i take it all back.
As you say, this was a complete fluke and its a far below average experience right now for a AAA title.
Hopefully one day we can both enjoy scenery Simulator as intended ![]()
Look, I completely share your passion and excitement. Did a flight over Chicago yesterday in a modded C152 and…I had a blast. It’s an amazing game tbh, but they promised “a sim, first and foremost” that can also be treated like a game. And that’s where they simply didn’t deliver. Plain and simple.
I’m also quite sarcastic on this forum because I still can’t believe how they dared to publish this one…
EDIT: Ofc I know, it’s about the money. And game magazines and twitch streamers usually don’t care about realism but nice looking graphics.
Im completely with you.
I think its fair to have solid expectations, i spent months watching streamers play a different game.
Generally i was content until the latest patch but it has butchered the game for me. Admittedly im pretty new to flight sims but do early patches often degrade the experience?
Either that or im paying to beta test the xbox release haha
No, every release of a flight simulator (including the not MS ones) had many issues after launch. That’s not the point imo.

But the number of contradictions between their marketing and the reality we’re facing is just to **** high to let them get away with it. When I look at the episodes from the partnership series and compare them to what we got, it feels like day and night way too often.
No shots fired. Read with humour. Do not demand real world conditions in a sim but ignore real world condition in the real world. Don’t expect personal expectation only warranted qualities. Make wish list posts, polite requests, etc.
Still don’t like, get your money back and go back to your old sim. Complain there and see what you get.
etc.
Friendly, friendly, friendly
Could you please elaborate: I am asking not only as a FS2020 purchaser but as a MS shareholder. Who (An MS employee or executive, an Asobo employee or executiev or jointly?) promised what, when and were.
The earth is indeed not flat but there may be grounds to justify a civil action or criminal conspiracy investigations if what you are appear to be stating publicly is true.
Customer: “I want, what I want, when I want it” !!!
Vendor: “You’ll get, what you get, when you get it”
Customer: “But I want it now” !!
Vendor. “OK, you’ll get what you want, when I’ve got it”
Customer: “But why don’t you have it now” ?
Vendor: “Because Rome was not built in a day, neither was Fs2020”
BTW Rome is Still being built, 100’s of year later .. People are living quite happily there, and few, if any, are complaining that the Building is not FINISHED"
Try this instead:
Simmers: We were unhappy with our sim developer, we have complained for many years but have not got the features, technology and performance we wanted, we refused to accept it was a niche market and ignored all business aspects like ROI, our dev did not exploit the market potential to increase its sales revenue and fund future development, our forum was toxic dominated by a few old-boys and wanna-be-elitists and newcomers were not made welcome, we have seen years of bugs, many 3rdparty addons were buggy but we has to spend a fortune on them to make the sim somewhat like we wanted. That is why we bought your product. we desperately wanted it.
New supplier: That is what we recognised and therefore wanted to enter the market again to offer you and the unexploited market segment a better product. And we got the resources to do it. We have now launched the product due to popular demand but as everyone already knows software is hardy ever free of bugs. Important is that the developer endeavours to fix things. How can I help you?
Simmers: What it’s not perfect on day 1? Not all bugs are fixed by 1 patch? Not all imaginable features are included? It’s going to be sold to gamers? Well in that case I am going to moan and complain everywhere. File a bug report? Stuff that, I had to do that for my previous beloved dev and patiently wait for a fix. Most of their fixes had new bugs. I am not going to do that for you. I demand a house call to fix every thing. By tomorrow afternoon if you please.
New supplier: This is moving from awful to unbelievable.
Poster: Agree
As both a seasoned pilot (1978) and a seasoned “simmer” (1998) I will say that when ATC clears you to “Fly straight in RWY 11” and you can see an aircraft on short final and one two miles out lined up for landing on RWY 29, something is askance. Wind call out at the time was “212 degrees at 7 knots.” ATC clears you with a 78 degree offset tailwind? How about giving me RWY 25? ![]()
It sounds like I’m complaining, but honestly, it’s more fun than frustration. ![]()
ADDENDUM: This response was posted before finishing the entire thread here. I have to agree with @VeryOldPilot that way too many threads on the forum are nothing but gripe fests. So, I want to repeat part of my last sentence, this time in bold type:
Honestly, it’s more fun than frustration. I am very happy to have a modern Flight Sim to distract me from the worrisome world we find ourselves living in at the moment. To have a few hours of immersion in something I enjoy, when so many other activities have become difficult or impossible at this time? I feel very thankful.
That is IMO a really interesting post from a seasoned pilot and seasoned ‘simmer’ worth discussing, and if relevant, worthy of a bug report or a wish list thread. But first, can any other seasoned ‘simmer’ who has used all flight sims on the market let us know if any of those sims have such an ATC. I’ll pretend not to know that I know a sim that vectors you into a mountain but I have seen posts describing the ATC of other sims as awful (if not unbelievable). Is that described here a VATSIM ATC. ![]()
Do we want to hide such valuable information from Asobo among a thousands of posts?
The post does not sound like a complaint to me but it should not remain hidden fun either.
I did not see your edit in time. Thank you for your contribution. I am sure that you, with your experience, can contribute much to the improvement and future success of FS2020 providing that such contribution is made easily available to Asobo. The wish list method seems better than having to read thousand of posts IMO because that avoids numerous duplications, some with unfriendly wording.
Happy flying
And Happy Landings to you as well! ![]()
For what it’s worth, I’ve submitted three (four perhaps?) Zendesk tickets with what I believe to be wide-spread and repeatable bugs. In those, I give every technical detail I can think of, as well as aircraft, time of day, and location of occurrence. I figure the devs need all the help they can get, and have a big job to do.
Happy to report one of those bugs has already been fixed. I would encourage anyone reading this post to use Zendesk for bug reporting and to provide as many details as possible. It is a good system, and an interactive one.
Great and thank you also for that work - which will also benefit those who IMO just complain without really helping Asobo.
OK, we can’t change what happened but I am firmly convinced that the potential sales revenue (simply said money greed
to pay my shares dividend
to retain the executive job at MS
) will ensure that this will the best sim. And they ain’t going to get our money for FS2022, FS2024, FS2026, etc if they don’t deliver a real flight sim with improvements every version. Money greed can do wonders, moaning gets nothing IMO.
Now lets see how this thread continues. Popcorn ready.
How do you take screenshots in MSFS? ![]()
I use the screen grab utility in the driver suite that runs my GPU. It will record video as well.
What kind of GPU do you have?
