Azrsim has entered the race to develop LFPG, joining Aerosoft and Pilot Experience Sim. They’re going to have to really up their game in order to compete, though!
Wow, I hope RJTT, KDFW and LEMD get the same love in 2026!
Didn’t Inibuilds recently announce DFW?
2024-only, and they haven’t yet delivered a high-quality massive US hub so I’m skeptical – until they prove me wrong of course.
I’d say their KJFK, KLAX and KDTW are pretty solid, considering the size of those airports. In fact, I’d go as far as to say I’d rather Ini handle the mega-hubs than anyone else. Few devs are prepared to risk tackling such extensive, complex projects, and Ini at least have a satisfactory track record with them. Verticalsim and SLH cancelled KFLL and LFPG respectively because they were unable to achieve the desired level of detail without a huge performance hit.
RJTT we’ll see two versions of this year (Axonos’ was supposed to be released around Xmas — the other being Technobrain).
Why no one has attempted LEMD remains a mystery but while it might not be Europe’s busiest airport, it’s certainly one of the biggest by area (I think only EHAM might cover more ground).
Yeah I have their KLAX and KJFK, they’re impressive mainly due to the lack of competition. You know how it is; you can’t deliver some random airport you’ve been to twice as well as you can deliver your home airport.
It wouldn’t be bad at all for iniBuilds to do DFW; in this case something is better than nothing, but some competition (especially for folks like myself who either primarily or solely use MSFS2020) would be appreciated.
Back on topic, I cannot wait for a solid rendition of LFPG. I hope the devs all outdo themselves for this one, it’s been a long time coming.
I think it’s important to ask why there’s no competition. I suspect other devs realise they can’t really better what Ini have already done, or just don’t have the resources and/or experience to take on such big challenges.
When you look at all the biggest hubs — KATL, KORD, KLAX, KJFK, KDTW, KDFW, LFPG, etc. — we either have no version, a mediocre, half-cooked renditon (a la FSDT’s KORD and Imaginesim’s KDFW), or something decent by Ini. The only exceptions are EDDF (Aerosoft), EHAM (FlyTampa — which was arguably less detailed than their previous projects) and KEWR (Drzewiecki, but that comes with quite extreme performance demands).
Where Ini really excel, in my opinion, is in the versatility/flexibility offered by their configurators, which allow some of their most detailed airports to run reasonably well on mid-range hardware.
I have been 2024-only for almost 7 months now, so that is not a consideration. And we will have to agree to disagree regarding quality. I own Ini’s JFK, DTW and LAX and they are all a very solid balance of detail, performance and configuration options. The 2024-specific version of JFK is better still in terms of performance and quality in my opinion. You obviously disagree, which is fine, but many of us on 2024 are quite glad that Ini is working on DFW.
Now if only Orbx would stop telling us their ATL is “almost ready”, that would be great as well.
I own practically all IniBuilds airports and especially the sceneries for 2024 are awesome imho.
I think I won’t even take Azrsim’s rendition into consideration but it will be a tough decision between Aerosoft and PES. But if I could bet then I think Aerosoft will be the winner. Now it rather depends on who releases it first…
Would love to see a new LEMD or KORD as LVFR and FSDT is the only payware ones out there, wonder which dev might tackle it?
FSDT and LVFR don’t update their airports that often as they are focused on GSX Pro and LVFR with their planes respectively.
Didn’t even know Azrsim is doing EHAM/LFPG!
For me, I think it will boil down to performance. I think the quality of the Aerosoft rendition will also depend on whether a certain Jo Erlend Sund is tied to the project…
I assumed he’s involved in LFPG. He needs to set a new standard, like he did with his EBBR
If he’s not involved then PES might be the winner in term of quality.
Well Munich and Hamburg are pretty good without Jo so it depends what studio they use.
The issue with Aerosoft is that they employ a number of indie devs so you never know which one you’ll get. Jo Erlend Sund’s standalone airports are nothing short of fantastic, however the quality drops (albeit only slightly) when he co-develops with that Jakub fella (I don’t recall how to spell his surname so I shan’t bother trying). Pavel Movzer’s work is fairly solid but not up to Erlend Sund’s standard. Sim-Wings’ work is excellent for accuracy but a lot of it is dated and support is sporadic at best. Then of course there’s David Rosenfeld, whose LIMC is perhaps the worst MSFS airport I’ve seen. Additionally, they use a couple of other devs for region-specific scenery.
For an airport like LFPG, I suspect it’ll be another collab between Jo and Jakub (as EDDF and EDDL were) but that’s mere speculation on my part. I think EDDS is almost guaranteed to be Jo and Jakub, though.
The more the merrier, anything is better than the default LFPG where you will strike invisible walls or go for a roller coaster ride down a taxiway. Being Asobo’s home country, I thought at least the main airport would be the dogs doo dah’s.
Though discussions at FS Elite are usually very toxic I must agree with some of the comments… it doesn’t look that convincing. Which is strange because I own PES Brest and Rijeka and they’re very nice.
