From Xbox to PC now what

Well I finally bit the bullet and purchased a gaming PC. It’s been 20yrs since I’ve owned a PC as I have been a Mac user.

After spending the last couple of weeks getting used to Windows, optimizing my computer and installing/optimizing the MSFS2024 I’m at a point where I am running smooth and happy with how things are going.

Now I’m starting to want new peripherals and game addons. So, I’m looking for some suggestions to look into.

I fly a lot of VFR with GA , Helicopters and military aircraft. I’m not big on Airliners but occasionally I do that as well.

Wingwing offers some nice joysticks and throttles that look good. Are there other options similar to these?

I’m also thinking of Toby Eyetracker 5, are there other options similar? Or is this the best

What are some good game additions that helped your overall experience with the Sim?

I’m going to read through a bunch of posts on this site for more feedback but thought I might ask as well.

I’ve been looking at the PC and saying ok, now what? lol

Cheers and thanks for any input/direction for a PC newb hoping for ideas I would not think of.

Welcome to PC. We have a lot more freedom. No shortage of addons.

I only fly GA myself and this is what I use…

Thanks Maki152, I’ll look into those items you link. Much appreciated. A Yolk is something I should get as well, I like the idea of a panel too.

You’re welcome. Here is a site worth looking at as a PC user. It has a ton of freeware. Unfortunately Xbox users don’t get this.

I have so many addons that it’s impossible for me to list all of them here however here are a few aircaft I have been using as of late…

Wow lots of great info , thanks

What I use (and am happy with … primarily GA & military):

WinWing URSA Minor stick

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog throttle

Strongly endorse tobii eyetracker 5 (especially now that SU3 integrated controls into MSFS)

Little Navmap is extremely useful, especially if you have a 2nd monitor.

Addons Linker is very useful managing the contents of the Community folder.

“I fly a lot of VFR with GA , Helicopters and military aircraft”. Have you tried flying in VR? I tried some 8 months ago, and coming back to normal displays is not an option anymore

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into those.

I have a friend that has a VR headset, I’m going to see if I can borrow it.

As they say, “The sky is the limit”.

Enjoy you new PC adventures on FS2024.

should I be using Simbrief, I do notice that not all aircraft work with EFB and MS Flight planner.

For addons do most PC users buy direct from the vendor , or from site like Steam or still using MSFS XBox app? Can I have a mix of both?

Can you use two VR headsets at the same time ? Does it use more computer resources?

Hi, as to SimBrief, this is really more a function of which aircraft models you want to fly and what kind of flying you want to simulate. I used SimBrief when I flew a Series X and still do now on PC, but not all the time and not on all flights, so its ok to use both (or neither).

Probably most PC only pilots that I read around here buy outside the marketplace (and many vocally so). Those of us who used to fly an Xbox still have marketplace purchases available to us on PC, and so it is ok to have a mix of both. There are models I purchase direct nowadays and some casual purchases I still make in the marketplace, so it’s really a caveat emptor market according to your needs. Good questions!
