FS Realistic was just released

I really appreciate the latest changes to the app, especially the global on/off switches. Cheers for that.

Two things still need to be addressed however. One is problematic, the other merely annoying.

Does the app have to be persistent over top of other applications in order to work properly? If not can we
remove that; if so can we have it automatically minimize to the notification area upon startup?

Second, FS Realistic is still occasionally interfering with my in cockpit view zooming. Every so often the zoom simply stops working. If I do nothing else except quit FS Realistic it starts to work as normal. Is there a fix for this?

Cheers

edit: Sorry, will post on the FSR forum instead. I just realized this is customer tech support stuff.

Although the moderators may differ in opinion, I find your post and similar ones elsewhere to be very useful in drawing attention to things that we might otherwise miss. At the end of the day, third party or not, it is how these programs interface with the sim and make MSFS better or occasionally, worse. Let me give an example.

You mention loss of zoom functionality and I have seen this myself, but wouldnt necessarily have tied this to FSR so you have made any problem solving a lot easier and all from within this forum. I rarely get time to hit a developers forum and even then, one has to have narrowed it down really well.

Thanks again.

Got a chance to mess around with it tonight.
Here’s some feedback to the devs @LeadRaindrop53 @RoyKro

  1. The mouse cursor visibility is annoying and breaks immersion, not sure if anything could be done about switching the cursor on and off.

  2. The first/third person option seems to go into some sort of lower resolution/antialiasing mode, which I totally understand to counter the performance loss mentioned earlier. It just doesn’t really make it visually ideal to hang out in VR with as VR can’t really afford to take more antialiasing/resolution/pixel loss as is. The mode runs great though performance wise with this method, but the visual degradation is hard to ignore.

  3. The mode switch hotkey seems unresponsive at times, I found myself having to continuously press it to switch first person mode now and then.

  4. The flashlight works great, but doesn’t illuminate aircraft/cockpit interiors. Not a big deal for me personally as the sim has the native flashlight function.

  5. Better avatar animations would be great in the future without the arms being stuck extended in the autopsy cadaver diagram stance and the pilots walking around with the headphones/hearing protection attached.( Some nice flight line earplugs would sufficeđŸ€Ł)

  6. I honestly wouldn’t mind additional Xbox controller functionality for this particular first person mode. The mouse dependency adds a hurdle for folks who have seat/yoke/stick/pedal hardware setups with no access nor room for a flat surface to move a mouse on. The mouse look function feels pretty cumbersome to the point I’ve found myself preferring to just use drone or eyepoint functions over this feature.

  7. The mode doesn’t reset after a flight session has ended. It will pick up the last position outside of aircraft’s new flight session.

Other than that the feature is really cool and creates a ton of fun outside of the cockpit.
Thank you for the awesome work, consistent updates and communication!:beers:

Hey Captain, thanks for taking the time to give your feedback - very helpful. Please see our comments below:

  1. We actually wanted to keep it visible in case you’d like to interact with the toolbar etc. we may add an option to hide it - thanks!

  2. This is indeed one of our known issues, and sadly, a limitation by MSFS SDK at the moment.

  3. The mode switch hotkey will work only when MSFS window is focused. This is to prevent unwanted mode entrance while not inside the game.

  4. Not sure we understood this one, could you please give an example in regard to the flashlight?

  5. Oh yeah, this is just the beginning, we are looking to expand this area and add better animations for the avatars.

  6. Understood, and we will indeed add at a later point the option to assign movement buttons.

  7. This one is by design, as imagine if you were to take off from point A to point B when you toggle on the mode, one would expect the loading point to be B, no?

Thank you for the great feedback captain.

Downloaded and extracted the 2.1.0 zip file but nothing happens when I try to launch the .exe file.
No install routine and no error messages.
Version 2.06 is running OK.

Tried uninstalling 2.06 and then installing 2.1.0 but still the same problem. Tried running it as admin and without Anti Virus but still no install?

Of course I tested the new version immediately with the “Milviz PC-6”, because there was the problem with the rudders. It now works wonderfully
 :+1:
What I noticed, however, is that as soon as you press the “Toggle button” and stand in front of the aircraft, the aircraft is no longer on the ground and the tail wheel hovers horizontally in the air. I must first test whether this is also the case with other aircraft with tailwheel

Please read manual for First Person known issues, this is one of them

hahahaha!!! Late at night, the rider arrived at our castle with the happy news: “The new version is online!”
Forgive us, my lord, for not taking note of the footnotes out of joy
  :beers:

I can set keybind for the toggle, but sadly nothing happens when I press it.
If I set a toggle on my joystick, then the toggle works but I cant move or do anything. Its like it doesnt register my keyboard and mouse at all, outside of being able to set the toggle keybind.

I wasn’t able to use a numpad key (like / or *), but another regular key on the keyboard worked for me

Could you please make a video instruct us how to use or enter the First Person mode from the begining? I did assign toggle key, press Tutorial in Setting Experimental, then using arrow or W S A D keys but nothing happens. The manual does not help either.

Love this Mod alot. but what struck me: airplanes with a variable tail are just in the air; 2d objects like trees look very squishy and blurry especially in VR; and a mysterious luggage cart appears when you press pause ? haha. it doesn’t matter I think it’s great already - keep going it will be fantastic in the future

Hi,

Check out this great review with included operating instruction.

Starts at minute 03:10

Let us know if still not clear

Are you using a non-english keyboard? this may be the case as it is a limitation. A joystick button indeed will work. For non-english keyboards, only the arrows will work in order to move. If still no luck, please send log.txt to fsrealistic@gmail.com with a quick description of the problem and we will help.

Indeed this is a known issue.

Its important to emphasize that the First Person feature is completly self developed.
There is no out of the box solution and there is no SDK support for it.
It took us quite a time and a lot of effort to make this breaktrough and it comes with some issues :slightly_smiling_face:

We thought that although this is not perfect , its still worth to share with the community at this stage.

Enjoy :airplane:

I had a quick go with it last night and known issues aside I absolutely loved it. Great effort. Its a shame Asobo didn’t include this sort of feature out of the box, it seems like such an obvious thing to have in the sim as standard. Anyway its great its been bought in. It really adds to the immersion. Can’t wait to see what you can bring to the third person avatar. It seems like there’s a lot of potential there for people that enjoy roll playing and other content creators.

Just hope you can iron the technical issues. Hopefully Asobo can help you out a bit there.

Thank you for your response, I do use a nordic keyboard, but the arrows keys did not work either.
Anyways - I sent you an email :+1:

Is it possible to assign “wasd” controls to a controller? Wondering for use in vr.
