Here is a link that explains how to do that.
After reinstalling FS2020 all my issues are solved and the sim is working again as expected. Thanks for your support, can’t still believe this is the solution in my case and was much easier to solve. just had to reconfigure my graphics and sim-setting from new, done within minutes.
Well done! And to cap that, others did that too and it made no difference!
I’m not sure if it only works by a reinstall from scratch. As told, I uninstalled first the xbox app, uninstalled then gaming services as mentioned above and at least I did a reset of MS-Store. Directly afterwards I installed the XBox app first, then gaming services and to my surprise, I had to install for the first time FS2020 from the XBox app instead of MS-Store. Afterwards everything went quickly through the installing procedure within FS2020 and after 30 mins everything was finished and configured. I’m just a bit surprised now about the night lightning. Everything else works in my opinion with some minor bugs. Im just happy being back in the sim.
Will Microsoft do anything about this complete breakdown with FS2020? I cannot spend a week downloading the game again!! this is madness!! this bloody gaming services rubbish will not install/load/uninstall/ anything even using the powershell fixes.
Get A Grip Microsoft - MSFS 2020 IS NO LONGER GAME OF THE YEAR!!!

Did you log out of the x-box ap, uninstall it then re-install it and log in again?
Then do a reset of the MS gaming services ap?
Have you seen the articles in “Support” at the top of the page?
I just did it by myself and haven’t read it. The idea with the xBox app came up after all other uninstalls, installs, resets and so on didn’t came do the wished result. I just uninstalled the xbox app and followed the steps mentioned already via uninstalling gaming services, system restarts between and finally installing FS2020 GOTY version directly via xBox app. Since then the sim is stable working and I haven’t any CTD’s and could finish my flights also over a longer time of 2-3 hours. I didn’t used the FBW 320 since the install, this is something which I will test soon. Some minor bugs in recognition of my HOTAS at beginning of a flight is the only malfunction which is solved quickly by entering the controls menu. I also have traffic visible and a good, stable fps. Weather improvements are great in my opinion and also some visual improvements are great. My only hope is that Asobo will not crash damage the VR mode and I also hope that Alsobo will follow update strategy by going always 1-2 steps forward per update release and not as it was until now, 2 steps back and 2-3 steps forward… they really should keep the focus first to improve the base of FS before they release any other extensions and so on. The sim is still great and the best, it just has to come for fully working base.
Thank you. That fixed it!
great to hear and it took a while, some days until I found that solution. happy flying again ![]()
@TenPatrol’s guide was simple enough. Always glad when someone knows how to use the PowerShell to effect ![]()
You’re very welcome ![]()
Really why is this happening now!!! Always something with this gamer!!
first time for me!!!
Sign out of xBox app, shut down xbox app.
Sign out of Gaming services, shut down app.
Restart computer.
Start gaming services and sign in.
Start xBox app and sign in.
Most times this will fix it.
How do you sign out of Gaming Services??? Did you mean sign out of the Store?
Last night I flew without any issues, today I get redirected to the Gaming services… @TenPatrol 's great advice worked in the past, not today… I’m so getting sick of Microsoft, incredible garbage company.
That’s disappointing to hear, try these steps.
If you have used Google map replacement, uninstall it using the uninstaller.
Ensure any third party antivirus programs (Avast,AVG,etc) are shut down.
Ensure you have an open path through the Window’s firewall.
Ensure all Windows updates are installed.
Make sure the time and zone in your PC settings is correct
Sign out of the xbox app on your PC
Shut down Xbox app,
Sign out of MS Store App
Shut down same.
Restart computer
Open and sign into Xbox app.
Open and sign into MSStore.
Reboot computer.
Ensure all addons are removed from the Community folder, and any 3rd party plug-ins such as Navigraph etc. are uninstalled.
Try sim!
No google maps replacement here, I‘m actually quite happy with what Bing provides where I usually fly.
I moved my official and community folder to a new 2TB SSD yesterday and named the drive E: like the other one before. After doing that the sim worked absolutely fine. Today I booted up my PC and wanted to start the sim and was redirected to gaming services. I read that MS had once again issues with their xbox stuff. Unfortunately I had already done the powershell things as explained above. After that I did what you said with the xbox and store app but it didn‘t work either. So I uninstalled all xbox apps and the sim, only renaming community and official folder. Now when I try to reinstall the sim it shows an error. ![]()

Every time the windows store and xbox is involved you run into problems.
Did you set the new directory in your UserCfg.opt file?
Do not rename the official folder, only your community
The directory didn‘t change.
The situation is that I have recently built a new PC and I installed MSFS on a 1TB SSD. I totally missed that we have added a 2TB SSD as well and it had not been recognized. When I noticed that I added it to the system, named it Y: temporarily and moved my whole MSFS community folder with the addonlinker links, my actual addons folder and the official folder to this new SSD, then renamed the former E: drive to F: and renamed Y: to E:. After doing that my sim worked totally fine the whole evening.
This morning I was redirecred to gaming services.
I have now moved my addons to my other SSD and formatted the E: drive again to get rid of these system folders that get created everywhere where the store installs something. I‘ll try it from total scratch now.
Edit:
I only renamed the official folder for the uninstal process so it doesn‘t get deleted. But it doesn‘t matter now, I try it from zero now.
There are some posts in here about issues with the Xbox app this AM
Apparently MS is having some problems with it.
apparently yes… When I click on “instal” it shows me an instant error in the XBox App. I guess I’ll have to wait again..
