FS2020 the best simulator?

I do agree with you on this.

Graphics are by and large great. Let’s start tackling the real weaknesses, systems and SDK and maybe ATC (?). Also if the problem is that it’s difficult to get graphical devs. to do systems work then maybe look at ways to rebalance the team expertise.

Until then it will be a long way. The only reasonable plane was the A320, but the last update broke it.

With each update the A320 gets worse. And this is bad because it is the only airline in a condition to fly. The B747 and 787 are even worse.

Hi, I never tried Xplane, i had flight sim since 1995 and then P3D.
I find it hard to go back to my former sim after I tried MSFS2020; so yes, despite many bugs that will be corrected as you said, I think this is the best simulator ever. I am confident and sure that we’ll be playing it for years, for me it’s the “new generation” flight sim

As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.

May I just say that I am diametrically opposite your viewpoint.

I prefer my aeroplanes to work properly, not fly like bricks or quack like ducks.

They will come, it’s only been out for a couple months and there has already been tremendous progress. I’m super excited for the PMDG NG3. The years have taught me Flight Simming and being patient go hand in hand lol

I totally agree with you Juiceman39

And that’s fine too. No issues with that at all. Everybody should just fly the sim they prefer. Neither FS2020 or Xplane are without fault.

That’s exactly the point, so well said.

I personally see FS2020 has a lot of potential to blow every other sim out of the water. As more complex aircraft start appearing on MSFS, you’ll see users slowly start shifting to MSFS.

I personally think FSX is dead at this point, and P3D’s days are simply numbered; it’s only a matter of time before it doesn’t have anything that MSFS doesn’t already offer.

I’ve tried going back to FSX a few weeks ago just for the fun of it, but even that was incredibly disappointing; you thought the night lighting in MSFS was jarringly bad at times, wait til you see what a decked out FSX or P3D offers.

Thanks.

Your comments ‘fly like bricks’ and ‘quack like ducks’ did make me smile though, probably just my odd sense of humour. Pretty brutal but obviously heart felt so again no problem. Enjoy Xplane and let’s see what the future brings

It is the best looking sim out of the box for GA aircraft. When FSLABS, MAJESTIC, QW and PMDG launch their products and FS2020 can hold at least 30 fps with these heavy addons it will be the best. But not right now. Give it a year at least before this happens.

Sensible point.

And A2A, Thranda Design and Torquesim.

I had this revelation recently. I needed to do a VA flight to remain active in the VA, and jumped in to XP after being away for a bit. I used to think that Ortho4XP was just the shiznit, but after seeing how ortho with good photogrammetry looks, Ortho4XP frankly looks bad. I’m kinda bummed that I spent so much time creating all that ortho for XP now…LOL.

I’ have only MS2020 and i can’t fly because the AP A320 doesnt work with the new update :frowning:

What the community is really chomping at the bit for a transport addon from a third party. The Carenado stuff has basically been ported stuff, that, in typical Carenado fashion, uses only default systems, so not much interest there from people.

The good news is that the Aerosoft CRJ is dropping soon, and it will side step the default autopilot, and side step the default flight planner. So, if the CRJ shows up soon, that should qwell a lot of the complaining about default aircraft.

And as a side note, the default aircraft, IMO, are a smidge better than any default aircraft that ship with any other sim. Still not something most simmers care about, but not as horrible as people make them out to be.

I also spent quite a lot of time creating ortho for Xplane. I eventually covered the whole of the UK at a level of 18 (I think). It didn’t look great though (I eventually returned to default textures) and took up, as you can guess, a lot of storage space. Even so, I don’t regret doing it. It was a great learning experience albeit at times a bit boring and brain numbing. I later bought all the Orbx UK stuff and if i’m honest I would have to say that actually looked quite good

The Orbx stuff is just OK for me. All of their stuff has this samey brown/green/yellow palate for the scenery. While those are the major colors of course, being Earth and all, there are other colors that provide diversity, as seen in Ortho4XP tiles covering the same area. Bottom line for me is Orbx looks dingy to my eye.

Yes, Orbx stuff is a bit like Marmite. People seem to either like it or hate with very few sitting in the middle. I liked it but quite a few users found it a bit blurry and the shades of green too strong.

The blurriness was a Vulkan issue in the early days. ORBX chose the colour palette because so many people complained that Xplane was too washed out in look.

P3D was always a weird mess with its green colours particularly, even before ORBX’s True Earth.

TE in Xplane 11.51 + Vulkan looks fine now, still a tad dark but pretty good overall. I consider it good value and money well-spent.
