FS2024 Gold memory requirements?

I have 63GB free of 475GB memory in PC. How much additional memory is required for Gold version of FS2024, please?
Any ways to increase memory?

Well, first of all that would be storage, memory is generally used to refer to RAM. Second, there’s no “gold” edition (there’s standard, deluxe, premium deluxe and aviators editions). While the docs state that base install is 50GB, you’ll need at least double that for rolling cache and some downloads. Lastly, to increase storage you’d basically need to delete things on your drive, change the drive to a bigger one, or add a second drive to install MSFS 2024.

Thankyou Sebastian. Sorry I was referring to premium deluxe edition. What do you mean add a second drive, please. The PC only has one other USB interface. (with extreme projoystick, pedals and mouse).
I wanted to add a C-17. But it only comes in a full new pack. ( maybe it has other complexities?
Not like Simviation and other early PC aviation sites, FS3 to FS10, where you could download a plane at a time.

Hey there Peter. I’m not sure if you’re talking about a desktop or a laptop. If it’s a laptop, mostly sure you can’t add a second drive. If it’s a desktop, mostly sure you can, you should have spare SATA and/or M2 slots to add a second drive, and then you can install MSFS to that second drive.

An MSFS install isn’t only the plane, there’s a bunch of other things and also the rolling cache, which all demand some storage. Also, while MSFS2024 streams a lot of data, still its base install and rolling cache take up more space than what you have available.

You’re actually almost topping that drive, since (at least for solid state drives) it’s always recommended to have at least 10-15% free space, so in any case, I’d start thinking about a way to increase your storage, regardless of the install of MSFS.

Yes, Sbastian, I have a laptop.
Thankyou

Peter

Then basically your only option is to replace your current drive with a bigger one (1-2TB), unless your laptop has an internal slot for another drive. Most modern laptops won’t have it.

Dear Sebastian,

What about using a Terabyte external hard-drive? Usually they are used for external data storage, can they be accessed within FS2024.

Second question.
FS2024 somehow accessed my granddaugher’s name when initiating the program. How do I replace her name/ icon on top right corner of the program. I realise this is a second topic.

Hello Peter, @natasha5001188

Hope it helps

Second question has been answered above. Relating the first, it’s not a good idea to install to an external drive. Even if it’s possible, you’ll run in a myriad of issues (the basics, is that the drive will change it’s letter if you plug another drive ever… Also, don’t know if it’s even possible since the system will reckon it’s a removable drive).

Your best option is to swap your drive for a bigger storage capacity one, while shouldn’t be expensive and several tools can help you of your tech savvy. Minitool Partition Wizard (it’s an app) is very simple, though you can do it with free tools too. Basically you need the drive, an USB adapter for that drive, and that’s all. With Partition Wizard you have a straight option to swap your system drive.

If you’re not that tech savvy, you can always ask someone to help, it’s not a super difficult task. Always make a backup of your important data of course.
