Just thought it might be an idea to start a thread highlighting scenery and aircraft bugs the community has managed to so far identify. Likely better off all in one place.
So far I’ve come across:
Satellite imagery with no autogen buildings
Weird red guys with ‘error’ billboards sticking out of cockpit windows
runways that are in fact made up of grey grass and flowers when you examine them close-up
Inaccurate and poorly-defined shadows that seem to shimmer (on the aircraft themselves when viewing with exterior cam)
My issues are with some of my PD content from 2020 not shown, although under my Library is states it is being streamed.
Another issue that is bugging me is when in the main menu, my GPU and VRAM usage is maxing out as if I am flying around in the sim. It makes for an unpleasant experience as I do not expect my vram to be maxed at a static menu on the homescreen.
My biggest issue is why do we, as the user community, have to be the ones compiling this list? (BTW, thanks to the OP for doing so!)
If Asobo would simply publish and maintain a list of recognized problems, even if there’s no timeframe for a fix, it would go a long way to calm folks down. But with no feedback on anything other than the server issues, people keep reporting the same things over and over.
I believe that, because we are now streaming scenery rather than having it on our drives, you cannot use any airport or city for which there is a default handcrafted example. This is a bit annoying and needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
Keep the bugs coming. I’m confident most of them will get sorted in the coming weeks/months (hopefully not years!) but, in the meantime, it’s useful to have a single thread in which to highlight them.
This was a real teeth grinder for me. I eventually bailed because I am so tired of dealing with bugs that weren’t bugs in previous iterations. I can’t imagine their development ecosystem. It’s like having “Print” not work in Excel or Word because it’s a new version.
I posted it in the Bug section but photogrammetry buildings get colour toned depending on the time of year. In fall/winter downtown cities are a grey brown mud colour, and a nice blue/glass look in the summer.
DC-6 radio display have incorrectly scaled fonts and are very faintly lit. GNS display very faint
Just Flight KSBP airliner gates have a constant revolving door of aircraft that appear, render in, disappear, and a completely different aircraft model appears only to rinse and repeat. Additionally, the ground vehicles associated with the gate disappear and rerender repeatedly
ORBX KVNY has crazy rainbow colored psychedelic terrain spikes and colored patches on the ground. Moving the external camera fine spikes appear out of the ground and just as quickly disappear.
And these aren’t even the good drugs…
See the fun at KSBP. Note, too, I can’t “uninstall” this airport as it was a Marketplace purchase:
I did my first flight out of SYD (hand-crafted by default). It was rather brief but the default AI traffic, although looking pretty nice, was on steroids. It was all over the place; a complete free-for-all. It reminded me of when you enter a multiplayer game and have elected to see all other users — i.e. the Wild West! On the plus side, the sim ran REALLY smoothly, even with all that traffic! So far, it appears (certainly to me) that it runs better than its predecessor.
• Keyboard periodically disconnects and must be unplugged and replugged to be recognized
• Some letters in the onscreen keyboard (A, U, backspace, etc) cannot be entered, with either physical keyboard or controller. I suspect these may be keys that are mapped to commands and are being intercepted. *** Console reboot fixed this ***
• CTD trying to customize keyboard settings
• Recenter on aircraft in EFB flight planning shows aircraft in the middle of the Atlantic ocean rather than the chosen departure point
• Toggle Comms panel does not remove the panel once it has been maximized. It can only be removed using the toolbar.
30+ minute load time! Status lists VFS Activating Packages in lower left corner.
After using Controls to set up devices, there is a config button (Joystick Button 2) permanently superimposed over the Back button in the lower left corner of the screen.
My TM Sidestick is twitchy (shaking with no input from me) and I can’t configure it.
Renaming Profiles - When I create a profile under Airplane Controls, then edit the name, it looks like it accepted the new name but when the screen refreshes it reverts back to the original profile name.
In Controls, circular conflict indicator covers over the Joystick button/axis number.
In Controls, the devise image on the right side doesn’t list the button/lever numbers.
In Controls, when you move/slide or press a lever/button it doesn’t illuminate on the screen like it did in 2020, big problem!
On default Airbus 320neo V2, Captain’s window will not close once opened.
Have we got confirmation that new aerials are actually in the same there’s been many posts of people saying they’re seeing imagery that is not up-to-date by many years or any different than 2020 simulator
As I continue to learn how the new sim functions, I’ve realised that YBBN is not a new hand-crafted airport, but the Orbx version automatically ported across to FS2024 by ‘My Library’. This seems to explain the AI traffic and grey grass runway anomalies as they appear to be absent from native hand-crafted airports.
Having only properly played the new sim today, the AI traffic actually appears to function pretty well, with the exception of having to look at quite a few manufacturer house liveried aircraft.
Seems to run better than 2020, and the environment generally looks nicer. Still not satisfied with the shadows, which continue to flicker and appear less defined than their 2020 counterparts. Not sure if any of the graphics options can remedy this? I’ll have a play…
Day 5 and it finally looks like things are on the up. We just need to option to download DLC to our machines, but I have wondered if using the package reorder tool could get some scenery conflicts sorted?
The the automobiles MOVE TO FAST and their colors are unrealistic and annoying. Lots of bright white and red and safety yellow and primary blue. kills the realism for me. = (
Bugs? I went to sydney and saw 4 LARGE tanker ships spinning around their center like pinwheels!
SSR “SUCKS” can we eliminate screen space reflections.
I have problems with the AP on C172 as well. Does not respond or turns off by itself.
CJ4 flaps only respond to fully extended or fully retracted. ( they work fine on the C172 stepping in increments). the only way is to start on runway to get the flaps 15.
I decided to wait a month or two until some of the problems are resolved.
I’m afraid this will never change. It’s a limitation originating from the transponder data from ships - especially old transponders lack fidelity so they may only report some rough position without an actual heading. As there is no heading information the ship may start spinning in position when it’s not or barely moving.
You will also likely come across boats sitting on streets or between buildings at some point as some captains leave the transponder on during maintenance or when the vessel is stored.
