Any chance for the Carenado planes? I had bought the P34Seneca from the 2020 Marketplace. On Msfs2024 I don’t have it available and on my library it displays it as Disabled with a triangle with an exclamation mark and the words “Restart Sim”
Carenado is a bit of a hot mess right now. Some work fine for me, but others are hidden.
If you have the C170, it shows as a variant. As does the 337, M20R, P44, and YMF-5. I don’t know what’s taken them so long to fix what appear to be config file problems, but here we are.
If you don’t have the C170, or don’t have it installed, I’m not sure what happens to be honest, but that could be what you’re running into.
As with all third party aircraft though, screens are going to be almost unusably dim in these aircraft until Asobo sorts that out, hopefully in the next patch.
Non-Marketplace Flysimware customers: The Nieuport, C414AW and C24 have all had their installers updated. The installers can now install to FS2024.
- Added Nieuport 24
- Added Sierra C24R
Fabulous news!
The Flysimware Lear 35A now has an updated installer that can target FS2024. It was released yesterday followed by a quick patch to fix TDS GTN750Xi integration for FS2024.
Yes you need to enable it.
Yes you need to restart the sim after you enable it.
(In fact, you should quit FS and restart after every update to the sim where packages are changed or installed. FS requires a start from cold and dark to properly initialize packages. (and they still don’t properly initialize all variables, hence, weirdness)).
Then everything @Stardrifter2232 said.
I haven’t flown the PA-34 yet in 2024, so I can’t speak to how well it works in 2024.
The Flysimware Lear 35A Cargo variant is now also able to install to FS2024. I am unsure if I should at it to the list as it isn’t a standalone aircraft, but I’ll err on the side of adding it for now.
I’ve temporarily removed all Cowan Sim addons from the list. Despite Orbx saying they are compatible, the dev having installation instructions for FS2024 and having previously announced they were compatible, etc., they are prone to weird FS2024 bugs. They do load in, and from my limited experience they do fly, but there are bugs that make the experience not quite ideal especially at night.
If folks know exactly what is broken with each, I can add them back with notes in the Notes column. I only know what is broken with the 222B, which only matters for night flying. My bug report for that led Cowan to state as of today that their addons are FS2020 addons and that they are not accepting bug reports for FS2024. All of that said, the bugs are things Asobo is likely responsible for fixing, or at least responsible for explaining to the devs how to fix if it comes to that.
This comes down to the dev trusting Asobo when they said they’d be compatible, and the core functionality working. Not here to bash Cowan or Orbx despite having misunderstood what level of compatibility they were at. We’re all navigating this “compatibility” era in the same darkness after all.
Most importantly, they are working on FS2024 versions, so either Asobo will fix the compatibility issues and they’ll end up back on the list, or Cowan will beat them to it with native versions. Time will tell!
Miltech CH47 should be in the Full Native category and not in the compatibility section. This is documented on their web site. They are using the new folder format, and have (limited) walkaround. Further improvements are planned.
Don’t re-add it just coz of what I say, but I didn’t notice any problems with the R66 (with the Immersion Sound Pack too). Just only one small thing that wasn’t correct with the sounds was when shutting down, the change in sound was abrupt where in 2020 it blends together to the “wind-down” sound for longer.
To be fair I did not try it at night yet though.
Golden Age Simulations Super Stearman IB75A is compatible in Free Flight mode. Due coding constraints placed upon developers by Asobo for placement of cockpit avatars. The pilot and passenger is bespoke the vintage set, is the default and can not be changed by the user.
Thanks Baracus, that’s my goal exactly is to add them back based on user feedback. I’ll add the R66 based on your notes and the 222B based on mine and we can slowly add them all back based on what we know. I just didn’t want to blanket include all of them on the dev or publisher’s word only for people to buy them and realize there are bugs.
Added, thank you!
Holy… wow. I just bought the R66 and the R66 sound pack and it is astounding. You’re right about the transitions. There’s an abrupt one during startup but a way worse one during shutdown, but the sounds are still so phenomenal that I’m happy to wait for the fix. I did night testing in the R66 and it works very well other than the second of the panel options having a blindingly bright screen (EFIS or something? I couldn’t even make it out ) and dim screens of course, the ol’ Asobo bug.
According to Immersive Audio, they will release a new soundpack when the FS2024 version of the R66 releases. They said it’ll be a 50% upgrade fee. I’d usually gripe at that but after hearing the sounds for myself, my wallet is ready. Like Boris Audio Works, they’ve made a lifetime customer out of me.
Absolutely!! I’ll also be getting that pack with the half price offer for the Asobo/Carenado one (just for the Ag Sprayer version really) but 100% agree the sounds elevate it to godly levels. It’s really one of the best sounding aircraft in the whole sim with that addition! Phenomenal, so visceral and alive especially if you have Spatial Audio headphones!
Not for me. After looking for some info on the Azurpoly discord, it seems that if it was bought on the marketplace, you have a great chance that it wouldn’t appear in FS2024. ORBX owned C160 could pass through, as they have it in game now.
Seems Asobo have to fix this problem.
I thought I added a blurb about the Marketplace, but I don’t see one. I’ll add one. The Marketplace is anyone’s guess. I am basing this on availability from the devs or other vendors primarily because even FS2020’s Marketplace was deeply behind, let alone FS2024 which doesn’t even have a functioning Marketplace yet.
Edit: I added a Disclaimers section with a few statements to clear up questions, frustrations or confusion I’ve seen here and elsewhere.
I’ve bent my own rule a bit here to include the BlueMesh Fouga Castel C-25S Training Glider in the Native list. Though it’s freeware, it’s by a payware developer and payware quality. It supports native functionality such as interactive walkaround.
It’s really a lovely addon from my personal experience and a nice gift for the holidays, so I chose to include it despite generally otherwise only including payware aircraft here.
It probably won’t start happening for a while but it would be nice to have a column here to indicate career mode compatibility whenever MS actually starts talking to people and sharing how to make that work.
Added the Classics Hangar Klemm Kl 25 D which delightfully works in FS2024 with some limitations. The dev hasn’t laid out exactly what the limitations are, but for the most part, I have not had any issues. I haven’t quite figured out a cold and dark start, it always seems to want to die, but Ctrl+E works. Might be user error. Sounds are great but the dev has mentioned there are some issues with node-based sounds in Wwise not working until you change views (really not sure, didn’t notice anything too odd in my first flight.)
Pilots missing in external view as with all third party addons in FS2024.
Most importantly, it looks amazing, flies well, sounds good… as with anything, your mileage may vary but I’ve had good success with it.
