The purpose of this thread is to have a single place to document and monitor the MSFS 2024 availability of payware third party aircraft addons that were originally released for MSFS 2020.

There will be 2 tables here:

  1. Addons that are considered “Forward Compatible.” These addons are expected to work in FS2024 in Free Flight mode with minimal bugs or issues. They do not have native FS2024 support. If the developer has indicated the aircraft is compatible, you will see “Developer” in the Source column, otherwise if it’s been confirmed by one or more people in the community, it it will say “Community.”

  2. Native FS2024 addons. These addons have been updated to natively support FS2024 features such as interactive walkaround, EFB, missions, etc. Whether there is an Upgrade cost will be indicated. This refers to the cost of the upgrade for existing owners of the addon, or the cost in general if no discount to FS2020 owners is included.

Notes

  • FS2024 Compatibility, unless officially confirmed by the developer, is a “fly at your risk” situation. Not all features are guaranteed to work.
  • Many if not all third party aircraft that use the FS2020 avatars currently have missing pilots/copilots in external view. I am adding this here so that I don’t need to add it as a note to every addon.

BUYER BEWARE: Buying an FS2020 addon to use with FS2024 may work, but you may end up needing to buy the native FS2024 version when it comes out. This is up to each developer individually, so be sure to do some research before making any purchasing decisions.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve added all of the LVFR Airbus variants that appear to be compatible, but this list is only covering payware (I really should add that to the title, come to think of it) to keep it from becoming too insanely hard to keep track of. I may add a separate freeware section if it’s helpful.

I just tried both Aerosoft CRJ 550 and 700, and PMDG 737-700. Both work but all the screens are super dim and very hard to see. I didn’t fly them around at all, just turned on from cold and dark on the ground. The buttons and functions all seem to work that I tried but the screens make it maddening.

I tried Fenix A320 – model shows up but nothing works inside.

Headwind 787-9 doesn’t work. Exterior shows up but mostly pink textures. No cockpit interior showed up for me at all.

So far no 2020 third-party liveries work on 2024 aircraft that I’ve tried.

Now, I’ve simply copy and pasted all of the above over from the 2020 Community Folder. I can’t figure out how to install them directly into the 2024 Community Folder, so perhaps that’s what I’m doing wrong.

Is it worth to buy the aircraft now for using it with msfs2024 ? Reason being I cannot find a suitable aircraft from the free ones…

I wouldn’t do that. You’d risk having to pay full price now plus in a few months an upgrade fee for the 2024 version. I’d wait for the native version and just buy that.

  • Added the Hughes XF-11 by Flying Fries which was updated to version 1.4 to better support MSFS 2024.
  • Added the C414AW and Lear 35A from Flysimware. There are compatibility patches for instruments on their Discord in the #product-updates channel.

A side note, not added to the list as it’s not an aircraft, but Navigraph features are now available for FS2024 in beta: Navigraph

Add the FlyingIron F6F Hellcat to the list of “Works in FS2024.” No idea if they’re planning any ‘24 specific tweaks or upgrades, or if there would be a fee if so. But the Hellcat flies great so far as my initial tests go.

I added that as well as the 109 which my friend tested, and the P-38L which I just tested. The P-38L has some sound phasing issues in the new sim, and seemingly the elevator is harder to control, but that might be my imagination.

Edit: The same friend says that the Bf.109’s landing gear fail on landing every time for him, so I’m taking it off of the list for now.

I’m super happy to say that the Wing42 Boeing 247D is miraculously working in FS2024. The only glitch I’ve encountered is a really annoying sound that never stops playing. Once the engines are on, they drown it out. I’m not sure what it even is, honestly. Might be user error.

Okay a few more for the list:

First, the FlyingIron Spitfire Mk IX works but engine sounds seem essentially non-existent. I can almost hear the engine but that’s about it.

Second, the Milviz Corsair works (as in, you can fly it), but none of the cockpit gauges seem to work. Still sounds pretty great though, lol.

Third, the Tukansim Ford Tri-Motor seems to work.

Thanks! I’ll see if I can add a “Notes” column to touch on what is known to be broken on these addons. I added the Trimotor. Also added the Cessna 310 from Blackbird. They just released a beta build on their Discord for MSFS 2024.

A notes column would be extremely helpful!

That said: I just moved the Black Square TBM 850 to my FS24 community folder. Flies like a charm, but some of the sounds are missing, mainly button clicks and the engine.

Colin from Blackbird/Milviz is a huge fan of the Corsair. Although it’s now an older product, I hope they can release a '24 build. It’s an amazing experience to fly these old warbirds in the sim and I hope this one will live on.

I noticed this as well, pretty much any planes based on others do not work just yet. Black Square mentioned his plan is to update all of them to standalone versions, but I’m not sure if he’ll get them working as “mods” in the meantime. He’s working on updates for the other ones as well from the sounds of it. Very excited for him to get the Dukes working.
