FSDreamTeam GSX for MSFS

A report from me, not a single CTD yet, but! I have NOT updated GSX since installing it on release day. Somethings don’t work, like the aircraft customisation that I guess an update somewhere fixes, but I have not updated at all aside from dropping that file in from the forum.

Also, I did not update my NVIDIA driver, I am at least 2 or 3 driver releases behind and will keep it that way I think, at least for now.

Since I installed GSX I did only 2 test flights (I’m very busy with my work these days and I had no time for more test)
All flights were fine with no CTD’s.

So reading this thread and FSDT forum GSX topics, as well seeng the streamings about the add on like British avgeek or 737 NG driver I suspect the CTD’S can be caused by a conflict between FSUIPC and GSX, or maybe a MSFS live weather server.
I have no FSUIPC installed
The two short flights I did for testing were in Spain where skies are clear.

I excluded GSX jetways in all my 3rd party airports via FSDT installer.
Said this I need to try more to confirm no issues in my end with GSX but for now I had no issues.

Edit: testing flights with FenixA320
Live weather
Toolbar pushback unninstalled
AREX unninstalled.

Yes. Same thing happening.
Just did the same flight without GSX and everything worked flawlessly.

How to keep the GSX menu open after doing an action? For me it closes after each action, which is annoying, cause I have to reopen it all the time

My CTD is the same everytime. It happens after pushback and the tug leaves. When i click on anything in the toolbar menu, instant CTD. This doesn’t happen when GSX is not installed.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

No. Only a lite Version with Models for the Vehicles and the Jetways. But not the cool Ground Services Features via the toolbar Menu. But that Marketplace Version then should also work on XBOX

You cant at the moment.

Not marketplace but simmarket

FSDream sell their p3d gsx on it

I experienced the same trying to setup the Twin Otter. More than an hour of scratching my head. You might want to try shutting down MSFS and rebooting your system. Check the gsx.cfg is correct with your new position settings, then startup MSFS.

Sorry, my bad. I dont know about simmarket. But you can be 99.9% sure, that you will to install it via the FSDT Installer no matter where you purchase it. So only wait, if you expect a better price on simmarket .

im really struggling with profiles, when i download them they dont work. Afcad path seems wrong but with me using addon linker im not sure where to point it

I had some issues with that, but thought it was just me. In some cases I have the Marketplace and a Community version, so I might be confusing GSX when I MS Addon Linker them in / out. I don’t know how to ‘Reset Airports DB’ for GSX as yet.

Anyway, to fix a download profile here’s what works for me now:

  1. Go into MSFS and go to a gate at the airport you just downloaded a profile for (don’t copy the profile ini just yet).

  2. Enter the GSX editor via its toolbar (Customize Airport Position or something like that).

  3. Make a tiny edit, e.g. press the down arrow once and hit ‘Enter’ on the numpad to save.

  4. Go to %APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\MSFS and see your new file.

  5. With the downloaded .ini file, just copy the text (i.e. Notepad open it) from below the [general] afcad_path = 2 lines, so basically everything but the top two lines. Paste that into your newly created ini file that you had, keeping its top two lines. Make sure you are editing the one with the right ICAO code if you have a lot of .ini files.

  6. Restart.

Not sure if that’s the simplest way, but it works for me so far.

I found two GSX profiles on Flightsim.to that weren’t working for my Marketplace purchases - evidently they were created from stand-alone purchases directly from the devs. Anyway, to get them working, I did something a little differently. I went ahead and copied the .ini files to the %AppData%\Virtuali\GSX\MSFS folder, then loaded up to the airport in the sim. I enabled error logging in the GSX Options Troubleshooting page. Then reloaded back into each airport where I had issues. In that error log, there will be an entry for each airport where the .ini file couldn’t be processed, along with the generic .bgl file that was being loaded for the Marketplace airport AFCAD file.

So what I did was copy that AFCAD file path into the .ini file I had downloaded from Flightsim.to, then saved and restarted the sim. That seems to have worked.

Hopefully the new SDK feature that lets devs read stuff from encrypted Marketplace sceneries will work out and eventually we won’t need these workarounds.

That way seems good. I think for me I had FSimStudios CYVR in the Marketplace when I installed GSX Pro. Realizing that it’s encrypted so wouldn’t work yet, and that I also own it stand-alone as well (don’t judge :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) I uninstalled the Marketplace version and linked in the Community folder.

By hacking the .ini I’ve made it work, but ideally I could force GSX to ‘rescan’ all airports by deleting its cache/db/thingy but I’ve not noticed a way to do that. Because MSFS is CTD’ing today even if you look at it funny I’ve not really spelunked to find GSX’s files either. Anyone know already?

what a pain in the butt this is!

Well, It seems there are a server problem with Asobo’s servers that are causing CTDs for all this weekend, so GSX seems nothing to do with this CTDs we are experiencing. Fsdreamteam released their product in a bad moment and we have taken to them all the blame. What doesn’t mean that their product suffers from some important bugs…

Yes from what I’ve been reading on the fora it might just as well be both true.

A server issues happening/creating memory leakages and then GSX easily pulling the plug once you release its weight on it. It’s clear that the program in its current state is far from ready, regardless of causing CTDs or not.

I’d advice to hold onto your money untill they’ve published some proper updates. A lesson I myself can’t seem to learn whenever I see addons I want. :smirk:
