And nice that almost all the payware I have already has custom profiles on flightsim.to
I do have a few questions.
Is there a way to disable the closed captioning text?
When I click on GSX from the toolbar, once it disappears, it stays “selected / highlighted” in the toolbar, I have to unclick it, and click it again. Is there a shortcut key I’m missing to make it visible again without having to go in and unselect and reselect?
I think this is a procedure issue (on my end) but I would spawn in and connect the jetway, then start boarding process and the jetway would disconnect.
Is it proper to just leave it disconnected and click boarding and let it move in on its own?
I’d like to echo others in requesting for GSX Menu to have option to remain visible. I hate having it timeout so quickly and disappear completely and having to hotkey it back up. It should be a preference not a default to have it auto close. I’ve lost count of the no of CTRL+SHIFT+F12 I end up having to do per flight. I’m perfectly capable of minimising (my preference) or closing it myself.
OK, I have a newbie to GSX question. I use in game ATC, when I land I contact ground & ATC assigns me a gate. How can I be sure it’s a GSX ‘enabled’ gate? Should I ignore the request to ATC and just request gate assignment from within GSX instead? Sorry, but not entirely au fait with GSX procedure.
Am I correct in assuming that not every gate is enabled the same in GSX and it all boils down to what people have actually enabled in the GSX .ini airport profiles?
I’m guessing ATC doesn’t see or care that I need a GSX enabled gate.
I went for it. One question though, I’m parked at a gate at Dakar (GOBD). Is there something I should or can do to have the gateway not go into the cockpit?
You could try a GSX reposition (single click option), it is in the GSX settings sub/menu somewhere (I forget where). Where FS spawns you may not be on the exact parking spot.
Bear in mind, the jetways in MSFS are in need of some serious developer love. They have all kinds of positioning bugs, especially at stock airports. There are at least two gates at my home airport (KBNA) where the jetway will snake THROUGH the aircraft and try to dock to the right-side passenger exits, even with the plane parked right down the center of the line. There’s nothing really GSX can do about the weird behavior of the jetways, unfortunately. It can change the models but can’t change the core behavior.
I completely ignore ATC after landing and I don’t contact the ground. I just open GSX menu and look for an available slot and assign it (I usually replicate real world flights, so I try to get to the same gate or a gate nearby as was assigned to the flight I’m copying).
ok thanks, will give that a go. I keep getting assigned a gate by ATC then going to GSX and selecting the same gate which says it has already been assigned, so will ignore ATC.
I don’t think so. No marshallers and no VDGS do you have to enable VDGS? or does it have to be added via .ini files.
In one airport EGPH I think I had VDGS text floating in the air right in front of the gate but no graphical representation of a VDGS system.
It’s a bit of a mystery admittedly, but I like what this add on adds to the sim. It’s an experience now at the gates.
I guess I just need time to RTFM - all 80 pages.
I have custom profiles for most airports I fly and I also have that SU10 Navdata API enabled. And I always have a marshaller or VDGS at my gate. Not sure about VDGS… Either it’s a part of the addon airport or GSX uses its own VDGS based on a custom profile (I guess). And maybe you mean the marshaller readout text which can be turned off in the GSX settings. Since I disabled that I get the gangnam style dance of the marshaller for a perfect parking very rarely
I got critiqued for my bad parking at a gate by GSX last night, despite having no marshallers or VDGS available.
Yes I just enabled the Navdata API thing too last night. Haven’t used it in anger yet.
I actually had that happen to me last night as well. I was at default KSTL and there was no marshallers or VDGS system at all. I even had the display parking distance option checked and that didn’t even show up. It’s honestly the first time that as happened to me since I’ve been using GSX.
Indeed, it happens even at the premium stock airports like LEMD (Barajas - Madrid). Can’t do much about it unfortunately. Must say first impression of GSX is good.
