FSimStudios Vancouver International Airport CYVR, Bravo!

The CTDs were definitely caused by ai livery addons. I also had CTDs at CYVR not only with FSS CYVR, but also a competitors payware of CYVR. For both payware versions of CYVR the CTDs happened approximately 5 miles away from CYVR on any approach. Deleting the ai livery addons fixed the CTDs for both payware versions of the CYVR airports.

The FSS CYVR airport is simply fantastic and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I shared my experience so that others who may have had my experience do not blame FSS or MSFT, but find the solution quickly.

Glad you found a solution and thanks for adding a positive comment about the add on.

“Deleting the ai livery addons fixed the CTDs”

Where’d you get those? I’m dying for some semi accurate airline liveries at my favorite airports. Can even just be for the static aircraft. But all the solutions for that seems to be in early development or just a iffy hack.

Anyone try FSimStudios CYVR on SU5 yet??

Why do you ask? Is it broken?

For me FSimStudios CYVR works great after SU5. If you have a CTD, remove any liveries from your community folder, and try again. You will likely not have the CTD again.

I’m not the one who had the CTDs related to liveries.

I was just wondering if others had tried it before I started to add back (many!) items to my community folder.

I tried it with just a small handful of other add ons and it worked better than ever. 40+ fps flying over the airport, even right over the terminals, that would have slowed considerably in the past. That’s 4k, ultra settings, etc.

But, when I started to add more add ons back in, I was getting some pretty significant slow downs over the airport (inconsistently) and over various spots around Vancouver. Stanley park fly overs at low altitude were bad, dropping into the teens. This is not CYVRs fault. But I’m going to have to methodically find which add ons are causing the issues or what combination of them. It runs so beautifully with only select add ons like CYVR. Ah, such is the way with add ons, especially free ones, SU5 hasn’t changed that it seems. Frustrating it seems some add ons cause slowing fps even if you aren’t anywhere near the scenery they add to the sim.

I guess it’s time to start using add on linker and making better methods for testing addons. Sure would be MUCH easier if there was a way to refresh the community folder contents without restarting the sim, or a way to enable/disable each or all community add ons inside the sim like P3D can.

Because with dozens and dozens of add ons finding the problematic without removing significant groups at a time is seemingly impractically time consuming. Sure would be great if there was some way of seeing which add ons were using more CPU cycles, eating up fps. Maybe somewhere in dev mod tools that can be done?

Some good news for those who fly out of the FSS CYVR. I sent in a support ticket regarding the 08 L & 08 R runways being labelled as 8 L and 8 R, and received a very quick response that this will be fixed in the next update, as well as some SU5 issues. I’m looking forward to the increased immersion since this is my home airport IRL.

Version 1.2 has just been released on ORBX and it fixes the jetway malfunction. Jetways now correctly connect to aircraft at the gates. :grinning:

Also fixed is a CTD (that I was experiencing) when choosing a western waterway landing on either CAM9 or CYHC. I’m not sure if this was a MS/Asobo SU7 fix or a FSS 1.2 fix, or both.

If MS/Asobo fix the runway SDK for Canadian airports so that FSS can use 08 instead of 8, I’ll be satisfied.

I want a functional ramp into the water at cam9!! Granted I haven’t checked lately if that was working lately.

1.2.1 was on ORBX when I started that up last night. Anyone know what that update was for?
