FSLTL - FS Live Traffic Liveries is live!

*On their system(s). I find dialing it back a bit further makes my system happier, while still giving a good amount of traffic.

I’m fairly sure VFR was 15

If you go to (file explorer)-

%APPDATA%\fsltl-trafic-injector

the file

fsltl-trafficinjector-config.json

contains your modified settings for the tool. If you want tool to start with default settings delete or rename this file.
The defaults for the tool are -

My current custom values are-

Max Active IFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 85 {I have been experimenting with 60-65 range as well}
Max Active VFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 5
Additional Parked Aircraft (0=disabled / 10=max): 1 {having this at a higher value means busier gates, but heavier resource usage and ‘blocked’ gates/cycling liveries. Note: These are static traffic so won’t ever depart}
Max Radius to Inject Aircraft (50-200km): 120
Blocked Aircraft Removal Time : 60
API key for routes : {activated}
Blank liveries / generic models will NOT be used

Going to try for the first time, what settings are needed within msfs for this to work? Does live traffic need to be on etc?

MSFS settings from their user guide-
Flight Conditions

  • Air Traffic set to “off”

General Options / Traffic tab

  • Aircraft Traffic type set to “off”
  • Ground Aircraft Density set to “0”

Basically all air traffic set to ‘OFF’ including live traffic.

Try to use Enhanced Live Traffic. Here you see the original routes in time from FR24. The traffic will be registered in GARMIN and P2ATC will warn you. But there is no other ATC therefore. So if you like good VFR traffic in combination with other traffic exclude all other traffic in ELT then VFR and set in FSLTL the VFR to 0. So you will have the best of both worlds

FWIW These are the settings I’m using with a 5900x, 2080ti, 32GB RAM and a full AIG installation. I’m getting loads of traffic, virtually no go-arounds and had no problems at all.

I realised that setting IFR traffic higher than this doesn’t actually increase the amount of traffic at my departure airfield nor does it increase what is already in the sky. What it does do though is add loads of ground traffic at airports that I can’t see which IMHO is a total waste of resource and almost entirely pointless. I think a significant upgrade to this injector would be to stop it doing this - injecting ground traffic at distant airports when the player aircraft is on the ground. If I’m on the ground at LHR I don’t need Gatwick, Stansted, Luton etc full of aircraft!

Max Active IFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 40
Max Active VFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 6
Additional Parked Aircraft (0=disabled / 10=max): 1
Max Radius to Inject Aircraft (50-200km): 100
Blocked Aircraft Removal Time : 60
API key for routes : Not Activated
Blank liveries / generic models will NOT be used

I’ve installed FSTL and I really love it, it’s fantastic and so smart!
But, trying to intercept the liners with Sim Skunk Works F-104, it happens a very strange thing so I decided to check it with LittleNavMap:

  1. when approaching a liner, its GS seems dropping from something like 350-400kts to 235kts or so!! As a consequence, the F-104 always overcomes the liner since at Mach 0.6 / 210Kias of course the GS is much higher, something like 350kts or so.
  2. Then, once overcome the liner, you turn and go away from it and - absurd - the GS of the liners (all of them!!) comes back to a “normal” value, 350-400kts.
  3. I asked couple of friends to make the test, same result!

It would seem this being MSFS related issue, not the mod…

Anyway any idea or suggestion?

Thanks

Here is complete guide with screenshots, how to resize textures to have more stability, smoothness and better fps in MSFS2020:
https://drive.google.com

/file/d/1GgTBv667zz-qyEj13FSOe4vaqMyT1K5Z/view?usp=sharing Guide is made by me, with help of RJC68, toby23 and chickster25 from AVSIM forums.

This guide was made in discord group named live traffic modifications.

What is my goal? Just make existing Ai traffic solutions better with some modifications. I dont share copyright protected material but i am providing instructions to do those modifications. For example this texture rezising method is making msfs2020 more stable, smoother and with better fps. For me it did gave me +15% better fps with rezising all the textures to 1K.

My future plans are wide open. I personally have ideas and I would love to have more users to join my LTM discord to discuss these ideas and help me to make them happen. My next project is making native GA aircraft models to be used in MSFS with offline traffic, with FSLTL injector (beta atm) and with real time online. I need only couple of models to be made, because we can duplicate those used with different icao designators.

Third project will be trying to hassle with .cfg´s (aircraft.cfg, engines.cfg, flight_model.cfg etc). I currently can make ai aircraft´s braking to be less effective by disabling reverse thrust. That is example i did discover over one year ago. There is lots of parameters from fsx/p3d era we can try. But this project is launching after SU11 where should be updates to AI traffic engine.

Are you intressed to join us in Discord? Send me personal message, so i will give you invite link to it

No injecting ground traffic on other airport would mean, that if you start at a small airport as a VFR flight, that you never would see starts even if you would fly to another airport. The Injector will install traffic around from you. So if the other airport is in that circle (and the circle will go with you) it has to be installed also the ground traffic - otherwise on your destination airport will be no ground traffic…
I think the percentage solution of the ground traffic installation is very clever. Because then on smaller airports will be less ground traffic be installed then on bigger ones. And the ratio will be balanced!

As I said…only whilst the player aircraft is on the ground.

When your aircraft is on the ground injecting a load of traffic at other airports, also on the ground never to be seen, is a total waste of resources where FS2020 struggles the most. Once the player is airborne then inject away, but when on the ground? No.

The point is moot, because at the minute the injector can’t differentiate. As I said, it would be great feature if this could be incorporated in the future.

But the FSLTL is only initiating the traffic. The controlling is in the AI of the simulator. I’m not sure if it is possible for the developers to get your position with the airport code. I think they only know your latitude, longitude and altitude. So they know you are on the ground at a specific position but not the airport. So they have to initiate all the traffic around you!

Does anyone know how FSLTL is matching models?

I am using AIG models along with FSLTL and found one texture, that does not show properly.
As the same model has several liveries for the same airline, I thought it’s no big deal and removed that one variant and all it files.
I rebuilt the layout file for AIG, I reinstalled FSLTL and still: in the log file I can see that this variant is still found and with debugging on, I can see that this model is still matched by FSLTL.

So any idea what I am doing wrong and how I can exclude/delete a specific texture variant from bying used by FSLTL?

EDIT:

never mind. Forgot to edit the aircraft.cfg of that model as well.
ANds obviously THIS is what FSLTL is scanning for available aircraft…

I’ll try it with your tips. Thankyou

Yes, when I park at KBUR I quickly get IFR traffic consumed to max value from KLAX so similar story, could be why so few arrivals happen at KBUR, dunno. I guess that traffic can still be visible as trails from the ground etc.

The ‘additional parked aircraft’ setting though is just an eye candy slider adding static aircraft that never leaves, but does clog gates and hog gpu resources. (vram etc). So yes slider should be dialed back for max enjoyment I think.
On their discord they recommended ‘1’ for that so the fact the default is set to ‘5’ perhaps is only for initial ‘wow’ factor when we spawn at an airport.

this helped me a a lot with a faulty austrian a320 model from AIG

when using AIG models together with FSLTL, do we still need to have the .aigoff extension for the trafficAircraft.bgl inside fs-base-ai traffic folder like we did when using traffic controller?

I have some questions about this addon. What is the need for an “FBW installer”? Why not a simple batch file? Why use the this installer and then refuse to support it? This kind of thing always makes me suspicious wondering what else is being installed. I have coding experience and I can’t tell you how many addons code install and especially UNinstall incorrectly. The most common issue is failure to account for all possible failures. This can leave any manner of kruft in your directories, possibly impacting system performance and is especially acute with networking code. I won’t even go into the possible security issues.

Please forgive me if the tone of these questions seems negative. It is not my intention to offend or insult. The entire MSFS addon scenario leaves me with a million questions.

You might consider trying PSXT.
That real live traffic addon knows exactly where you are and spawns ground traffic at your origin or destination airport only.
Very handy in the greater London area.
Note that PSXT works with FSLTL aircraft too.

This addon CTD to me when loading the sim with the base models installed. Maybe is because a conflict with IVAO MTL?
