FSLTL - FS Live Traffic Liveries is live!

Thanks seems to be running now :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s what I wanted to know among others! Thanks!

I’m sitting at EGPH right now watching live traffic take off and arrive. There is about a 5 or 6 min delay between actual live traffic at EGPH and what shows up in sim, but it’s looking good right now.

This add on is more realistic the longer you leave it running. I can see why if you just jump on in and expect to see stuff immediately you may be confused by it. Still using additional parked aircraft set to ‘0’. Seems like best approach.

One other thing to keep in mind is that some 3rd party airports include static traffic as part of the package, so if you also add more static aircraft into the mix then even less active gates will be available for this add on to use.

Thanks for your response.

I derived the avoidance from the statement on the website diverting any concerns about installation to FBW. I know. It’s a technicality. :wink:

(However, It’s interesting that you divert my subject from this open forum. So, feel free to censor me. I promise I will not respond after this.)

I was wondering about “middle” costs. For example, why would an app require a subscription? Buy the app, get the functionality, i.e. you buy a hammer, you get a hammer. A “middle” cost occurs when an app accesses a particular server in order to access a possibly public database. Why can’t the app simply access the data directly, without the need for the vendor’s “tollway”? Lastly, how many of any of these apps use the consumer’s internet access to collect data? (Does international EULA law account for that possibility?) Am I expecting/misunderstanding too much?

I think it’s possible that our creative imaginings about the possibilities of simulation can not yet be realized by our technical abilities - or our wallets!

Oke, here is the procedure:

1- Install MTL_installer of IVAO
2- Run installer and install all aircraft and liveries you want. (for instance I did not install most Airbusses and Boeing, because these ara most covered by FSLTLT itself. But I added a couple of extra deliveries of the MD11)
3- Rename IVOA_MTL in your community folder to aig-airtraffic-oci-beta (i don’t know why but besides the fsltl-traffic-base directory, this is the only directory the FSLTL also reads to see which aircraft are available.)
4- For the aircraft you want to use edit the aircraft.cfg with the following points:

  • Add in the GENERAL part wip_indicator=2 and editable=1
  • You can add the services section and adjust it to your need: for instance:
    [SERVICES]
    FUELTRUCK = 1
    BAGGAGE_LOADER = 1
    CATERING_TRUCK = 1
    BOARDING_RAMP = 1
    GROUND_POWER_UNIT = 1
    PUSHBACK = 1
    SMALL_PUSHBACK = 0
    MARSHALLER = 1
    JETWAY = 1
    5-in the [fltsim.x] sections:
  • replace ALL isAirTraffic=0 by isAirTraffic=1
  • replace ALL atc_id=“IVAO” by atc_id=“”
  • replace ALL ui_fuel_burn_rate=-1 by atc_id_enable=1
  • replace ALL ui_autonomy=-1 by icao_airline=“ZZZZ”
  • replace (if wanted) atc_parking_types=“ANY” by for instance atc_parking_types = “GATE,RAMP”
    6- after the replacements replace the “ZZZZ” by the airline called in the ui_variation for instance “KLM”
    7- I had to edit the flight_model.cfg for the CRJ’s with static_cg_height=10 ,for the Embraers static_cg_height=7.8 and the A388 static_cg_height=14.5 (I dont know yet if these are perfect right now)

Tried this 0 parked aircraft setting but when I departed Montreal I could see just one aircraft taxiing and nothing at any gate.

Haven’t had time to read through all the thread so wondering what exactly is the theory behind having it at 0? Is it to see more moving traffic or something?

Did you wait around long in Montreal? If you just did a quick departure, it likely wasn’t long enough to allow FSLTL to populate the gates. Being live, & it’s also Sunday, so I noticed a reduced schedule here in UK today at EGPH, also fairly quiet in RJFF when I flew there this morning UK time. Busier on approach/arrival in RJAA though. (bigger hub airport)

The point in setting additional parked aircraft (static aircraft) to zero is two fold -

  1. They are just static aircraft so don’t ever move/depart, they just sit there to make the airport look busier.

  2. They can populate gates that are needed by the live traffic to depart and arrive from. This can lead to the cycling of livery/aircraft ‘unallocated’ bug which stops the spot from spawning a potential departing aircraft.

The net result of this is less traffic departing and more instances of cycling liveries bug.
When you set the additional parked aircraft to ZERO, it effectively disables all static aircraft and leaves all available gates open for live traffic to spawn at/depart from and also to arrive at.
So airport looks busier with live traffic as opposed to just filled up with static traffic.

Hope that makes sense.

If you sit at an airport and watch traffic for a while it makes sense. The add on seems to need a while to populate and see arrivals and spawns/departures. It’s live so its not always busy and its not always at the pace you maybe expect it to be.
If you just want to see more static arcraft at the gates then set additional parked aircraft to ‘1’ or higher for more. The default value is ‘5’ which I don’t really understand, as it just jams up the gates for live traffic use.

  1. They can also populate gates at other airports within the radius you’ve selected, including those you fly over or near along your flight plath.

Yes, (I deliberately missed that bit off so as not to create confusion), the dev has said that is intentional to make those airports look busy from the air. That’s why I mentioned further up that maybe they need two variables, one that spawns enroute ground (static traffic) and one that spawns at departure/destination static traffic if you want to have it. Personally I don’t do much peeking at enroute airports as I’m usually flying up at FL300.

I’d like to make FSLTL something I can enable or disable (particularly the overlay) via MSFS Addons Linker. Right now it starts every time but until VFR is working better I’m not sure I want to run it. What’s the best way to enable/disable all components of FSLTL quickly?

I think the game engine itself doesn’t allow for that at the moment. I’m sure that the FSLTL team are all over the MSFS Live traffic possibilities now, and hopefully MS/Xbox/Asobo will bring them on board like the Working Title team.

You can I think use add ons linker. But it’s easy to stop/start, just kill the injector window and it stops. Start the injector window and it runs.

OK, I tried a test scenario for people who are not seeing live traffic. I spawned at CYVR and watched and timed, with additional parked traffic = 0 (static aircraft off). The airport looked completely empty on spawning, and and it took a good 6-10 minutes for it to get this busy.

Hence my suggestion to be patient. The longer you wait the more traffic will come and go.
If you need to see more gate traffic sooner then just have additional parked traffic at a higher value than 0, but be aware you’ll likely be blocking gates used for live traffic by doing that, which you may get away with at larger airports, but not so much at smaller ones.

Generally I find by the time I spawn the 737 at a gate and get the FMS set up and push back the airport will be busy like this.

CYVR with FSLTL after waiting 6-10 minutes for traffic to appear

and same scene 20 minutes after spawning-

I am finding these give good performance and traffic - despite the limitations of MSFS ATC

Max Active IFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 40
Max Active VFR Aircraft (0=disabled): 10
Additional Parked Aircraft (0=disabled / 10=max): 1
Max Radius to Inject Aircraft (50-200km): 50
Blocked Aircraft Removal Time : 60
Blank liveries / generic models will NOT be used

Thanks for the directions! I still can’t get it to pull in the IVAO CRJs or Embraers which I installed. Looking at the log, it seems to be detecting them but not correctly and they won’t match. Probably something I’ve done wrong, will keep trying.

Should I get GSX? or will it kill my frames? I heard a lot of people use GSX and that it’s a game-changer at airports (certain airports that are on its list of supported airports). I would guess that custom airports are not supported by GSX. The reason I’m asking is that in combination with FSLTS, I would think the two would work perfectly together unless the frame-rate hit would be unbearable and we would have to have a 13900K and a 4090, which in that case, OK, i will do it but I’m starting to hear that the 4090 requires a larger motherboard than the standard ATX or is brutal with out a larger mobo and chassis. Anyone able to comment on these things is appreciated.

I have the two running together right now and it does hit the frames. More importantly right now I am getting more stutters. Not sure which one of the products is more responsible for this but for sure the combination of these causes worse performance. I still like both and do use them (I don’t fly in very busy areas, I only play in Iran but do have some good sceneries, i.e. Aerosoft Homasim OIII, etc. which do also have impact on the FPS). I am hoping SU11 will improve the performance somewhat. At this point I wouldn’t spend a penny upgrading my firmware as the Sim itself is not optimized and you will be disappointed for the amount of money you will spend. I spent about $5k earlier this year and got a good system (i9-12900kf, RTX 3090, 64GB DDR5, etc.) just to be disappointed with the performance. So wait and see if Asobo/MSFT can fine tune the Sim on their end. No reason not to be able to run the Sim smoothly with my current system.

The toolbar window still pops up upon starting a flight.

Do you see this in your log?

Just wanted to say a major thanks to the devs. This is the greatest addon for this sim yet. Amazing work done here!

Even saw Flair parked at Calgary International. Blew me away. Now to check to see if Canadian North is in Edmonton. See you all in the skies!
