I am interested to know if FSR 4 is better than FSR 3 for Frame Generation (because I’m on triple monitors and DLSS FG only works on 1 monitor). But I am unsure how to try it.
In MSFS > Graphics > Frame Generation > when I select “AMD FSR” it shows up as “FSR 3.1”, I assume because this is what is installed by MSFS in its own directory?
Seems to work fine and was giving me 4.1 (9070XT). Haven’t really tested performance yet, but I prefer the clarity of TAA so not sure how much I’ll use it, but thank you for finally implementing it and giving people the choice!
With my 9070xt on my secondary sim PC FSR 4 frame gen seems to be better (at least to me) - ymmv. Since its machine learning over time you need to run it for awhile. I used FSR 4 frame gen + upscaler with optiscaler in SU5 beta & general releases and liked it.
Since you don’t have the Adrenalin drivers installed as you’re using a 5090, I would recommend going the optiscaler route. Not sure if optiscaler has the most current drivers from the Adrenalin 26.6.4 release though.
That’s most likely an accurate assumption.
Just a note after I tried SU6 with my 9070xt - getting the latest FSR upscaling and frame gen to activate is a real ■■■■ shoot. The Adrenalin driver will tell you when the latest version for each is active on its dashboard and they are both constantly flipping on/off . Never had this type of issue with injection via optiscaler. It’s the first SU6 build so I’m expecting this to get cleaned up hopefully soon than later.
I’m on an RTX 3090, so it doesn’t really affect me. MSFS still shows FSR 3.1 when I enable AMD Frame Generation. From what I understand, unless you have a supported AMD GPU with the latest drivers, you won’t get FSR 4.
The only exception I can think of is if you’re using one of those FSR 4 mod/workaround tricks that some people have been using, but that’s unofficial and not something I use.
Now I’m worried about losing FSR 3 Frame Generation - Asobo have removed the FSR DLL from the MSFS installation directory… so I’m not sure where it is even reading it from.
I exported the latest FSR 3.1.4 from DLSS Swapper, and manually added it to the MSFS install directory, which seems to pick it up now.
I strongly doubt Asobo has anyone using triple screens - at least not with Frame Generation.
Don’t think so, as of today I dont enable anything on adrenaline but on settings on msfa I use fsr3 for frame gen on su5. With su6 will it use fsr4 for frame gen ? Only thst frame gen tech part
No, I’m pretty sure it means MSFS isnt’t installing FSR, so it supports FSR 4, but it will only use what is provided by your GPU software (apparently).
You no longer need optiscaler if you use AMD’s Adrenalin drivers - just use the latest v26.6.4. If you have been using optiscaler and did not do a full install of SU6 beta then I would recommend you deinstall optiscaler.
In Adrenaline / Games / Profile “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024”, enable :
AMD FSR Upscaling
AMD FSR frame generation
Then launch MSFS Beta 6.
In game / parameters : Enable FSR upscaling and / or FSR Framegen
It works well for me.
One detail, though: regarding frame generation, it displays “AMD FSR 3.1,” but it is actually version 4 that is running, because the plane’s shadow doesn’t flicker.
