FSR300E or Citation Sovereign+? Which should I buy?

I’m interested in buying either the FSREBORN 300E or the Skyward Sovereign+. I already own and enjoy the Citation X and the Honda Jet, so I have a midsize business jet and a smaller jet respectively.

What are your opinions on these planes? Is one clearly better than the other? Are there unique pros and cons to each of them?

A little more about my preferences: I usually don’t fly a lot of jets, but I’ve really enjoyed the Just Flight F28 and 146. And I fly the citation X and Honda Jet regularly-ish. I prefer having more to do when flying, so the Honda jet feels almost too automated although it is fun when I want something different.

I do wonder whether the Sovereign+ might feel redundant compared to the X. And I’ve heard mixed things about the 300E ground handling.

thanks for your advice everyone!

The 300 has a great passenger simulation that reacts to things like cabin temp. The FBO mechanic is cool but not necessarily a plus or minus depending on how you like to fly. The avionics are great, the flight model is great and the sounds are awesome. There isn’t Auto throttle yet, but it’s planned in the future when they get enough info on it as it’s a new feature IRL

The Sovereign is maybe not as feature rich as the 300, but has everything you’d need. Great avionics, great sounds, great flight model. It’s an awesome performer, climbs like all hell, has double digit Vref speed and reversers to stop in very short distances for a jet that sized. It has Auto throttle but manual spoilers. Also a quirk that all 3 gear have to be down for the reversers to activate. Has great range, 4000nm to the 300’s 2000.

The ground handling of the 300 is actively being worked on per the FSR Discord. Its a more hands on jet with no AT.

Theyre both about the same cruise speed. 300 is 0.78, Sov I can get 0.79

I have both, You won’t regret either

Thanks for the detailed write up! If you could only pick one… which would you choose?

Been flying the Sov non-stop since it released. It hand flies amazing, tough call since the Sov is newer. Right now I’d go Sov because shiny new, I’m sure I’ll go back to the 300 at some point but I have a trip in Jet Card booked that’ll take me the next 4 days flying the Sov.

thanks for your feedback!

I went for the Phenom because I like how it looks. I don’t know about the Sovereign but the Phenom is very challenging to handle. If you’re not on top of your game, it will overspeed constantly. It’s raw power and short wheel track make it hard to handle on the ground. I guess that’s true to life. My first 10 flights all ended in a desaster, one way or the other. And I am still not really comfortably landing this beast. I haven’t used the FBO feature yet.

The Sovereign is cheaper if the price is a consideration factor.

Thanks for sharing! For me, it looks like the sovereign is 10 USD less expensive on the in game marketplace

I would say the Sovereign is pure simulation. The Phenom has lots of gimmicks and ‘fun’ things which add nothing to the experience of flying although they can be easily ignored or just not enabled. Both are very good but I find the Sovereign more rewarding and more challenging to fly. Having autothrottle helps which the Phenom doesn’t have, but really, just put it at 70% and forget it, so not that different. If I could only have one, it would be the Soveriegn, no question. Also, worth it for the sounds alone!

As WCC96837 already gave you a detailed and well balanced set of observations to help you make a decision I can only add this. Like him, I own both. You can’t go wrong with either and every day you wait is a day you are missing out on the fun! Blue skies,

I don’t have the Phenom yet, but I’m having a pure blast in the C680 Sovereign+. I can do airliner type ops in this biz jet. Simbrief, ACARS/CPLDC (VATSIM, Say Intentions, Beyond ATC), Navigraph charts in EFB & Garmin, Garmin FMC performance criteria, cabin announcements, passenger cabin control tablets. A working toilet and sink with modelled water usage system. A fantastic ‘Boris’ sound set, the engine startup is insane sounding. Interactive hatches (with functions) in walkaround mode, you can walk up steps onboard, a good EFB, an autothrottle, emergency LG (and N2 system), hand flies wonderfully, and no issues with landing issues (like the Phenom reportedly has). System performance is great. Being actively improved with fast updates. What’s not to like. Cons: some lower res textures in places, if you care about that sort of thing. Also no failures (yet), and no customer satisfaction system. They do seem to have future plans for this aircraft though. It’s great value for money. I’m now about 15 flights in.

I went for Both. There both beautiful and well done representation. Well worth the money Id spend at McRoach lol. My Dr. always says Flightsim is healthier and doesn’t affect bad cholesterol.

I don’t have the Phenom - on Xbox so it will be a good few weeks before it’s available I guess - but the Citation C680 Sovereign has set a very high bar… it’s been developed with a lot of care and attention and it performs excellently on Xbox since the latest (1.0.3) update.

The sounds are simply fantastic - and help to make the aircraft very immersive to fly - as others have said it’s great to hand fly, can operate out of quite short strips given its reversers and relatively low approach speeds. It can be a challenge on approach if you let the aircraft get ahead of you as it does need some distance to slow down from 250 knots to Vapp without using the air brakes..

For longer haul flights there’s a facility to pause at top of descent - and as a good bonus for Xbox users we have Simlink which means you can watch the progress of the flight on your smartphone if you use Simbrief and Navigraph charts.

it’s all beautifully done, it’s a great looking aircraft and whilst it may not be as quick as the Citation X, it’s a very very immersive aircraft to eat up the miles in - and it’s quick to get into the air from cold start too… Highly recommended.

Garmin can be great, but Garmin is Garmin. What “more to do when flying” would be differentiating for you? Maybe drill down on this for yourself some more before buying either or both? Just a thought, cheers!

I have the sovereign on Xbox,as the phenom is probably a way off for us!.

The 680 is awesome to the point where I’ve mostly forgotten about the 300,and probably won’t pick it up!.

i go with the lonfitude cause its already here and not far behind. the G3000 aircraft fly more or less automatically dont they. one is more than enough

I have them both, and they were both disappointing for me. Keep flying the Citation X as it is the finest aircraft in the sim right now. The CJ4 is right up there too.

Not very helpful. Maybe Elaborate more as to why they’re disappointing?

The flight model on the FSR300E needs fixing. There’s something wrong with the rudder trim as it requires massive inputs before it suddenly jumps. As a result the FSR300E lists to the left quite badly on takeoff.
The sounds on both are well below the quality of the Citation X.

The Flysimware Lear is very good as well.

Mine doesn’t. Maybe something wrong with your set up? The ground handling on the Sovereign is better but the Phenom doesn’t require ‘massive inputs’ on my set up.

The sounds on the X are good but the sounds on the Sovereign are amazing. Best sounds of this class of aircraft in the sim.

Yes it is. Very good.
