FSUIPC setting up controls

General question on FSUIPC. I am getting a new PC this weekend and going to install MSFS 2020. I have used FSUIPC in P3D for years, and I am wondering if it has any advantages in MSFS 2020 in setting up controls. I have watched numerous videos on Youtube on setting the controls in 2020, and every video, seems to show the setting up is done with the built in menu, which seems to make it fairly easy. What are most users on this forum using to set controls?

There is an issue with MSFS and hardware switches, like the ones on a Honeycomb Alpha yoke. If you have hardware switches I would use FSUIPC 7 for certain things. For example the “bug” in MSFS causes the trim wheel to move VERY quickly. Programming the trim wheel in FSUIPC resolves this. The bug has something to do with the repeat when pressed function, which currently cannot be turned off in MSFS. It also causes the HDG bug to move in 10 degree increments, among other little annoying things.

Probably depends on what controllers you are using. See this post for example on how I’ve used FSUIPC to set up the honeycomb bravo.

The built in mapping system works well for most things though.

EDIT: big plus from FSUIPC is that it automatically changes mappings when you change aircraft (assuming you’ve set them up)

I would not hesitate to use FSUIPC.
MSFS relies on Windows for a so/so calibration of controllers, FSUIPC on the other hand, as you know, is quite good.
That in my books is reason enough.
There is so much more you can do to customize your controls with FSUIPC
Then there is MSFS itself.
I found, as did lots of others, that MSFS responds much better with FSUIPC7. Night and Day to me.
I also find it easier to set my deadzones and performance curves, although as you mention, MSFS is pretty good at that.

Do a search in here if you want more input. There are lots of posts on it.

Create mouse macro does not work in FSUIPC 7.
This is a big problem.

You should bring this up there!

I got the paid version of FSUIPC last week, and only because I wanted to assign some key presses to my joystick. Other than that, I have used the calibration in MSFS 2020 for all controls and they seem to work fine.

So I have a transponder unit coming which requires FSUIPC. Can I just use FSUIPC with the transponder and leave all my other periferals on MSFS.? Any reported issues with FSUIPC and MSFS? Is there an FSUIPC for dummies thread LOL.

Seven flyer, Are there any “beginner” instructions for FSUIPC7. I have ordered a propwash aviation transponder which requires this and I really nervous about messing something up. It says the free version is adequate. Any advice from you would be appreciated.

Nothing to worry about, as there really is nothing to mess up.
The MSFS version of FSUIPC installs outside the sim.
Just follow the install directions that come with it.

Thank you for the info.
