FSX Import Showcase

You already have the FSX code, but flight dynamics have changed from FSX to MSFS so to get jets running you usually have to start from an MSFS jet like the CJ4 and then modify it from there. It’s not a simple or quick process but it is a good learning experience! Open the files for the CJ4 and copy them to the F18 folder and then check them out in a text editor

This is the best guide out there AFAIK in regards to converting the flight dynamics. This still will not result in a perfect conversion, especially for the F-18.

Hey All Again,
I finally got the Beach 58 TC to convert over and it shows in Hanger, but when I go to fly it no plane , no cockpit just the screen of the runway . I can look around but didn’t try to actually fly.
Any suggestions now I’m really lost.

Finally figured out why some textures would not load, thought they had to be DDS converted but it seemed one specific model liked all BMP to be saved as a DXT3 BMP. I lucked out by seeing the all blank texture model and saw a glimmer of an existing texture, the cockpit window trim. and I checked what format it was and turned out to be the only DXT3 BMP I had . but in FSX it shows all textures anyway, but MSFS wanted all BMP to be DXT3

If an model is invisible, it is likely an FS2004 formatted model. Only FSX format is supported so to make it work you need to use ModelConverterX to convert it to FSX first, which is no small task.

any link ?

Thanks thought it was FSX. I’ll just remove till later.

I’m not sure, I haven’t tried it yet

SGS 1-26C converted with flight model working!

Still a lot of things to fix tho, like the gauges and transparent parts of the aircraft which are solid white!

what should you convert to fsx format in the plane file? should i convert the files inside the model folder?

The mdl files need to be in FSX format.

FS2004 uses a single mdl for both interior and exterior views. Any FS2004 mdls show up as invisible.
FSX uses one mdl for the exterior and one mdl for the interior
P3D also uses one for exterior and one for interior, but they also seem to show up as invisible.

Using modelconverterX to convert to FSX format is not a simple task, you usually have to remap some animations and update some textures and such. There are tutorials online that can help
