If someone could post the discord link would be great!
I like the steam gauge planes a lot and that is why I have the touch screens, knobsters, Air Manager and the 530 stack. Iām going to mount it all in a panel to look somewhat like a plane panel. The Mooney M20R is a great plane and the first one I built an Air Manager panel for. Just having issues with the HSI glide slope that Iām still trying to fix. The rest works great.
I should add I have not tested the ADF. Do not really know how to use it.
Nice. Iāve been trying to build a panel for the M20 as well. Got most of it working, but I canāt get those top row instruments to work. Then again, I know the defaults in AM are for X-Plane. And Iāve not really dug into the programming in AM as of yet. I have the important gauges there and working, but itās a little āleanā atm.
Air Manager has some premium ($$$) panels available but they donāt work with Air Manager 4.0 Beta yet. I think the company said they will not be available until the software is out of beta. I have used the community cessna 152 panel with it and it works well if not a little small on my 10ā tablet doubling as a monitor. I can imagine it can only be better on your 15.6 inch touchscreens.
I use the 172 community panel and it works great. Iāve also been using the Baron panel with my Seminole. Not realistic looking since itās a totally different plane, but everything on it works as it should except the fuel gauges whose values are off from the real thing.
I hope they can get the kinks ironed out of AM soon so I can just buy the full release and have access to more instruments and the flood of community panels which will inevitably follow. Current pickings are pretty slim, as few of the instruments work with MSFS. And the latest release of AM beta is very buggy and crash-prone. Initially, the only issue I was having was the bridge from AM to MSFS occasionally needed to be reinstalled to work. Now I still have that problem, although less frequent, but AM decides to crash every now and then - something it didnāt do for me with the previous version.
Did you use the instructions in this thread to set up the g1000 pfd and mfd overlays yet? I havenāt heard much negative about it at all. I think there is a premium cessna 172 panel but I am new to air manager and and unable to buy it for am 4.0 beta. I am new to flight sims and have been training in a cessna 172 with steam gauges. I would like to move to the g1000 model (skylark?) next.
Indeed I have. And they both work extremely well. Still using my Stream Deck to control the FMS knob atm, but otherwise, I think they work great exactly as advertised. I also use the GNS530 bezel that was shared in this thread. Also works a treat.
Setup was pretty easy for me, as I already had all the Mobiflight stuff installed since I used it to control the Gamins via my Stream Deck. I basically didnāt have to do anything but load up AM and download XAxSysā instruments.
The Seminole panel is the next one Iām going to try making.
@Crunchmeister71 In my case Air Manger 4 runs stable. I had issues with Duet but reducing the FPS to 30 fixed the crashes.
The last one I had crash a couple of times, but thatās in several weeks of using it. The current version I updated to yesterday and I can count at least a dozen crashes so far. Not sure why really. Just know itās happening.
I have not really been having any issues with Air Manager Beta 4.0 crashing. I did see the update this morning when I started it
Does your Master Caution button actually work on your panel? I was never able to get that working. Thereās no key bind for it, nor is there a variable I could find in the SDK or SimConnect to get this to work. Been trying to get it to work on my Stream Deck since I got it a few months back, but to no avail. This and Master Warning would be amazing to get working.
This was pretty much my layout previously (minus the Master Caution button). Outside of the Master Caution, everything works now. But like you, the HSI glide slope indicator doesnāt work.
The only āissueā is my iPadās narrower aspect ratio limiting how wide I can go while keeping the gauges readable. That will be rectified once I have my proper monitor. Then the iPad will be relegated to being a secondary instrument. For the GNS530 in the case of the Mooney.
Do you have the discord link for that g1000 diy group that you can share?
Do you guys think it is worth it to buy the touch screen monitors now for this setup or should I wait until the knobster is available again? I donāt have a 3D printer or the skills to make one. Would I have to keep going to the mouse to use knobs like the FMS? Thanks.
I ended up using a different HSI and that solved the GS problem.
Which HSI did you use?
But that Bendix/King HSI looks so good.
But yeah, Iām thinking I need to switch to another one where the GS indicator actually works.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
