I really enjoy flying the A320 from one city to another. It’s always fun going to a new location and taking in the views as you descend and or take off from different places.
I do a majority of my commercial flights around the North America region. Mainly west coast/south west. Sometimes East cost.
I have done one Australia flight from Sydney to Melbourne which I really enjoyed and also Dublin to Heathrow which was awesome.
My purpose for this post is maybe some of you could share cool places you recommend flying out of or flying to.
One of the best A320 landings I remember in MSFS is Santiago de Chile. Never been there in real life so cannot compare, but there were mountains everywhere.
Barcelona (LEBL) is very nice if you land on 25R, as you see the city (one of the best Photogrammetry in MSFS) at your right side. And being my home town this is a view I enjoyed tens (if not hundreds) of times in real life. Everytime I do that on MSFS I still get the “wow” feeling.
Milan Malpensa is very beautiful if approaching from the north. In Italy, Florence (Firenze) is very close to the city. Naples, Palermo are also very impressive when landing…
In general, most Western Europe landings are very beautiful, as the airports tend to be in populated areas.
Try Charleston SC international airport to Norfolk Virginia international airport I love flying VFR and that route will end up flying along a good chunk of the Eastern coastline
For me, Flight Sims used to get boring since I did not really know where to go to next… sort of similar to what you are experiencing.
Using Career/Economy add-ons such as FSEconomy (100% free) and NeoFly (Free, but can be upgraded at cost) were the solution since you get “missions” to places where you normally would have never went plus there is a “meaning” to go there.
Using these I have found very interesting places which normally I would have never travelled to.
Specially for the OP: since you seem to like airliners most, I would recommend NeoFly over FSEconomy, since FSEconomy is mainly built around Bush-Flying in GA aircraft. NeoFly on the other hand supports missions for airliners very well.
Wow! Thank you so much for the replies. This is exactly what I was hoping to get in responses. I appreciate it.
I am going to fly all these that were recommended.
I am going to look into Neofly as well. That sounds like something I would like. I think you hit a key point where you say it’ll take me places that are awesome but never would see because I would never think of flying there!
As I was discussing in another thread, I used to fly a shuttle, based out of CYPR. We flew a B90 King Air but I have been enjoying the same trips in the Sim King Air.
Our morning would begin with a sched out of CYPR to CYXS via CYXT and CYYD and back to
CYPR with stops at CYYD and CYXT. In the afternoon we did the run from CYPR to CBBC and CYVR with a return to CBBC before heading home for the day to CYPR.
The trip takes you from the west coast of British Columbia, through the Coastal Mountains over to the foothills of the Rockies in the morning and along the west coast through ragged islands along the Coastal Mountains and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. (If you like mountains and ocean coastlines.)
CYXT, CYYD and CBBC can be VERY challenging with weather and winds typical of the coastal rainforest mixed with glacial mountains. Careful planning and adherence to procedures can keep you out of the ubiquitous Cumulo Granitous that line your route.
There are lots of good spots around Hawaii to land and take off in something like a King Air or TBM that are surrounded by some challenging terrain. I’d also say VRMM, but with no addon scenery, that airport is sadly lacking in accuracy. It has no docks, no wet start points, and no wet runways. In real life, that airport is home to quite a few floating Twin Otters flying for Trans Maldivian.
+1 to Hawaii, you can A320 to the major island airports - short hops, with beautiful scenery, variable weather and challenging winds… or you can drop to a King Air or 206 and hit the smaller airports. Northern Sky has a bunch of good payware for the smaller airports.
My favorite routes I use to repeat are EDDH (Hamburg, GER, PG city with simwings addon) to LOWI (payware version & freeware DEM), or LPMA, or Heraklion (Greece, with freeware addon(s) from flightsim.to in the FBW A32NX. First one is about an hour, second is 4 hours and last one is 3 hours (I realy like the visual approach over the harbour to Rwy 09).
Another fun visual approach is TNCM - especially with the really nice addon available from the Marketplace. The crown of people on Maho Beach is there, and the night lighting for the Sunset Bar and Grill is quite colorful.
Just wanted to say I appreciate all of your reply’s. I went through and wrote them all down and plan on flying them all! I am really excited to get out of the US and explore some other beauty of the world in the sim.
