G36 Improvement Project

just wanted to say big thanks for all this work on this mod. I have no real world experience in the bonanza, but I can read a poh and you all are for sure getting closer to what the poh numbers say the plane should be.

I echo that. Loving the changes - feels like a much better plane! Thanks for all your hard work.

The weather is working better now, seeing icing for the first time, need to get the defrost working.

RE: Weather, West Coast is questionable, east coast/midwest and Canada are working MUCH MUCH better

The Baron felt a lot less anemic after the patch, FWIW.

Did anyone else’s G36 start ignoring the patch post update? It’s back to it’s anemic self.

Mine are still there and working okay.

I think some people were saying over in the liveries thread, that it took a couple of restarts for MSFS to find its Community folder.

Found a goldmine of files while looking to get de-ice working.

fs-base-aircraft-common\ModelBehaviorDefs\Asobo\Common\Subtemplates

Specifically the Engine_Subtemplates.xml… LOTS of tuning options in there, which would impact things globally I imagine, but least you understand some of the scales a little better.

Cowl and Prop drag factors, for example, are defined in here.

	<UseTemplate Name="ASOBO_GT_Interaction_DraggingYAxis_EventSet">
		<DRAG_SIMVAR>RECIP ENG COWL FLAP POSITION:#ID#</DRAG_SIMVAR>
		<DRAG_SIMVAR_UNITS>percent</DRAG_SIMVAR_UNITS>
		<DRAG_SCALE>163.84</DRAG_SCALE>
		<DRAG_MIN_VALUE>#DRAG_MIN_VALUE_OVERRIDE#</DRAG_MIN_VALUE>
		<DRAG_MAX_VALUE>#DRAG_MAX_VALUE_OVERRIDE#</DRAG_MAX_VALUE>
		<DRAG_EVENTID_SET>COWLFLAP#ID#_SET</DRAG_EVENTID_SET>
	</UseTemplate>

Could help with figuring out how the templates work and interact with the model files…

Wow there was cowl flap drag already. I implemented it through the interior_model.xml by syncing an invisible spoiler to the cowl position…

I looked through these files but must have missed this. Great find!

Post update, I lost the MFD? I had to remove the G1000 mod to get the MFD illuminated. The G1000 brightness control for the MFD did not work. PFD was OK?

I tried installing the G1000 guys mod and got the same…just a black screen. I know the update included many G1000 fixes, so I’d wait for the mod people to figure out what changed and make their own fixes.

Agreed. I just tried the G1000 in the Cessna 172 and same result. Black MFS PFD OK?

I removed the G1000 mod from the community folder and the MFD/PFD were back to their bright normal. Keeping the G36 Mod on was OK.
Haven’t tried any other aircraft yet. Seemingly the update has caused some mods to break?

Okay, I am broken. My client never updated (Downloaded 600mb only) and I am still on 1.7.14…

after the windows store update or steam update you start the game, and the real update begins. don’t worry

I’ve rebooted the game, and my PC three or four times. I am able to fly, no problem.

Store update is finished, sim starts up , no update needed to 1.7.14. Something is off…

That is really odd. It definitely should have forced the update to 1.8.3.0.

Ya, There are a couple other people reporting the same issue right now.

you know, you could maybe tie the air conditioning switch to the imaginary cowl flap drag. The air conditioner on costs about 3-5kts in cruise.
