Thanks, ill get watching now. And thank you for your great work!
That lean assist feature on the NXi has been a godsend!
I mean, yeah, I could just look at the temps and rpm and adjust accordingly (which I guess is fun sometimes!) but to be able to do it at a glance is a nice luxury!
2700 is not recommended. You should set prop rpm to 2500 (or 2300 for economy). Also, iirc, 84 knots will give you best angle of climb.
I actually did some testing re rate of climb: see here: Best Bonanza Mod - #21 by SlabsFly
TLDR: performance at that time slightly exceeded POH. But I did cheat in terms of leaning: used the programmeās auto-leaning. But is should be dead simple to re-create with manual leaning.
@SlabsFly great post!
It certainly takes a while to test the numbers. I recently updated the engine parameters and did 10 runs recording figures every 1000ft up to 16k both at 2500, 2400 & 2300rpm
For folks who just want to fly, thereās no shame in using the Auto-Mixture setting. As you get more comfortable with managing the aircraft, you can always turn it back on for more challenge/realism.
Indeed: I have done it enough times in C210 and Bonanza in real life. Strangely enough it always felt I had more time and it was easier/less of a hassle in realityā¦
Is this topic still alive had nothing new for 8 days
@Darrlyn1971 not dead, just busy with work and life.
Iām working on spark fouling and carb icing at the moment, it is taking longer than anticipated as there are some sim limitations that I am coming up against and need to rethink a few things.
Iāve also spent the last week starting a new project (PA-46-500 TP Malibu Meridian) Iāve wanted to make my own aircraft for a while so decided to have a go.
Sadly I also have some IRL work deadlines coming up in January so I might not have much time in the run up to Christmas to do much.
More is coming, just got to be patient.
8 days is not justification for calling a thread dead. Maybe 8 monthsā¦
Thanks for the update mate, fully understand busy time for all this time of year.
I thought the real-world G36 was fuel-injected, not carbureted. If so, carb icing would not apply, correct? Am I missing something?
he he, yes it is indeed a fuel-injected engine; Iāve been working on the effects for piston engines to try and get the right in flight affect for fouling. We are limited to what we are able to do to get a correct rough running engine through the model behaviour xmlās and this was one item I was trying to get the effectās I wanted.
Itās taking longer than I wanted to get fouling working as there is no real fouling mechanism. At the moment Iām trying to trick the engine into running rough.
Love the new update but having issues with OnAir. It does not recognize āBeechcraft Bonanza G36- improvement modā just the original G36. Is there a way to add this as a āliveryā to the Asobo model, or modify the title so it doesnāt cause a conflict.
I guess I can always downgrade to the previous version as it was not a problem, but I like the improvements!
Hello all,
Iām sure itās the right place for feedback on this add-on ?
First of all, congratulation for the hard work. Thatās the kind of mods that keep me flying MSFS and not going back definitely on XP or P3Dā¦
Iām using the development version (0.6.6. beta 3) and have noticed a few bugs :
-
Decimal number on the manifold pressure is missing (using G1000 NXi).
-
Fuel flow indication is a bit eratic sometimes, jumping from 11.8 to 10.9 directly when leaning very slowly.
-
The backup ASI is not indicating the proper value.
Everything else seems to work perfectly. Thank you again for this amazing mod !
@NezHaut Thanks!
The missing decimal number is known about already and is a WT NXi issue that Iām pretty sure is on @kaosfere4829ās radar already.
As for the others Iāll have a look and see if I can reproduce, thanks for pointing them out. I thought I had sorted the ASI but that little one snuck in after a sim update a few back. It has been reported to Asobo.
@madbraindoc We had to split the aircraft out and is now seen as its own aircraft in sim; Iām unfamiliar with how OnAir works; the aircraft should behave as a completely different plane. Are there instructions for adding aircraft to OnAir anywhere? Might be worth contacting them as well?
Thanks. There is a way to submit the new aircraft, but it does take a few weeks so I was hoping for an easier solution.
Sadly not one I can sort - we had to make the aircraft standalone because of upcoming work on the model and it conflicting with another bonanza mod.
Having it standalone gives us much more scope to add features.
Hi All
I am very pleased to announce the release of 0.6.6 BETA 4
Installation:
1: Download and install the Working Title NXi from the store Marketplace
2: Download from the Github Development Branch and unzip the folder ābonanza-g36-improvement-projectā in to your MSFS Community folder
PLEASE NOTE - WE HAVE REMOVED THE āZā FROM THE FOLDER NAME, ENSURE YOU REMOVE THE OLD VERSION PRIOR TO USING THIS ONE!!
-
NEW! Spark Plug Fouling - if you donāt lean correctly both on the ground and in the air your plugs will encounter spark fouling, losing RPM and engine power. If you leave the plugs fouled the engine will continue to lose power until finally shutting off. After leaning the effect will take a time to work itself out. (Thanks to @WeptBurrito2749 for their help!)
-
NEW! Initial Aircraft Hangar - in game panel. Will tell you if your aircraft has been subjected to spark fouling.
-
New! The Bonanza G36 Improvement Project is now listed as itās own aircraft in the menu rather than overwriting the default aircraft (please see livery note)
-
New! Aircraft Persistence, all switches and fuel tanks are saved between flights
-
New! Aircraft Persistence, saves for different liveries - have multiple Bonanzas in your fleet all with different personalities
-
New! Beginnings of the Bonanza Hangar; currently an empty panel window, but basis for next beta release. You will manage your aircraft here, check for spark fouling, oil changes and more.
-
Reworked Engine performance figures: after more than 30hrs of testing and tweaking, the engine performance figures match the POH as close as we can get them and have been verified by real Bonanza pilots. TAS is within 0.22kts on average across the altitude spectrum and fuel flow within 1g/h.
-
Fixed: NXi Engine System Page spacing
-
Fixed: Aircraft getting stuck on the ground. Changed nose height on gear to reflect reference pictures, increased nose gear damping affect, thanks to Synoxys787 for his help and research
-
Fixed: Missing registration and ASI error, thanks to Bert Pieke on Avsim.
Please give this a test and let me know what you think. Iād value as much feedback as you can give, if there are no issues Iāll be pushing out a full release in the next week.
Enjoy
Matt
