Gaming services, Microsoft store, cant download anything!

Hello, its been 2 weeks now, and I haven’t been able to download anything from XBox or the Microsoft store!
My sim was running fine, and the windows update killed it! I have tried EVERYTHING!
I have uninstalled the sim to reinstall it, now I have nothing!

I have Windows version 21H2, OS build 19044.1566.

Anyone else unable to play, or download with this version?

You do realize “I tried everything” doesn’t give anyone much to go on.
What exactly is happening, at what point do things not work, can you explain in a bit of detail?
What does “everything” consist of?

The question was “Anyone else unable to play, or download with this version?”
So, just got off the phone with Microsoft (Xbox), I have a valid problem, had to report a ticket. Apparently I am not the only flyer with this problem as seen in this forum, and all over the Inet.
Just to humor you…I have reset, repaired, rebooted, uninstalled, but, cant reinstall, checked for updates, and prayed to the God Microsoft to fix the problem, no joy.

You don’t need to humor me.
I was going to try and offer you some help since you posted here.

No you aren’t the only one with this issue, but I personally have been able to get about a dozen or so folks back in the air with the identical issue.
And that’s just me, others in here have also got lots of folks straightened away.
Most times these issues can be solved here, but not when you don’t know what has been tried.

However, you seem like you’ve gotten the assistance you want, so best of luck!
Good Flights.

Yeah thanks. Im just angry! I have the feeling I wont be flying FS 2020 again. I have been dealing with Microsoft for 25 years, not holding my breath.
Anything other than resetting, repairing, updates, powershell, CMD, and so forth up your sleeve? Im very computer literate.
I actually think its the store, it shows my “FS bundle” is no longer available.
Just noticed 74 folks looked at my post. In my travels I have approximated about 11K people have the same problem, could be the build version of Windows 10 professional that’s the problem too.

The biggest thing is resetting. The one most folks miss though, is the Gaming Services.
I find if you do them in order, X box, Gaming Services, the MS Store, it gets it most times.

Did you try the IP6 to IP4 change?

There is also the VC runtime issue that has stopped a few folks.

lol! Too many acronyms! What’s Ip6-4, and VC runtime?
Oh, no, no , and I will check on version.

Ensure your firewall isn’t holding you out.

In the Windows Search Bar type in Control Panel and click on it
Click on “Windows Defender Firewall”
Click on “Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall”
Click the “Change settings” button
Look for the following apps in the list:
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Microsoft Store
Store Experience Host
make sure each app has 3 ticks, 1 to the left of its name, 1 in the Private column, 1 in the Public column
Click OK
Click the X to close off “Windows Defender Firewall”See this pic.

See this pic below.
Uncheck IP6

This link describes the VC runtime issue,

LOL! Xbox really didn’t like IP6…default was 4. VC is current but I downloaded the newest update anyway, installed, no joy.
All was fine till that last Windoze update, that seems to be the trigger.

Okay, did it, rebooted, no joy. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Played with my router a bit too…nothing.
Gonna try turning off Win Def, and my own Firewall.

Okay, you sent me in a direction, tried even more tweaks, no joy!
Thanks for the firewall info, some things were not checked.

Did you ever have the Google map replacement mod installed?
Make sure the time and zone in your PC settings are correct.
Are all the MS Store updates installed?

No, yup, and yup.

Do you have the same password for both Xbox and MS Store?

Think so…pretty sure.

That can be an issue if not.
So, if you reset the Xbox app, Gaming Services, and the MS Store, and done all else mentioned, you have pretty well covered the bases.
When it gets to this point, it often is best to do a Window’s reset, even more so since you suspect that may be the issue anyway.
If you go that route, uninstall the sim, delete all the remaining folders, and then do the Window’s reset.

Yeah, problem is I’ve got about 20 apps to reinstall. Billy will have to pay me to do that! Thanks for the ideas, and help! Dinner time!

See Solution 2 in this link to keep your apps.

Just tried a reinstall of Windoze…
Well, zip, nada, nil, and nine! Waiting for Microsoft at this point!

If your PC is fine, (all Window’s updates installed) and the sim is still giving you issues, I would start looking into your internet connections, whether that be your router, cabled connections - not wireless, etc.
Another would be to try a Free VPN, to see if it may be related to your ISP.
