Just performed a quick test with OpenXR Preview runtime (109.2111.23003) as suggested and I’m more than happy to say I wasn’t able to force a CTD even after switching between 2D-VR-2D probably 10-15 times in a row.
Will need to do more testing when doing this also when flying. Now I just sat on the apron in a cold & dark TBM 930. If this works equally good during flight, this is a historic day I would say after having this issue since MSFS was first released.

You get the latest version of OpenXR via the MS Store and then under the Developer tab, you enable you want to use the latest preview. After enabling that, close OpenXR and then restart it and you should see the latest version.
@mbucchia So happy to tell you I still haven’t had a single CTD caused by PreceptionDevice_unload.dll using the latest preview version of the OpenXR API. Now that it seems (fingers crossed) you finally how to fix this issue, would you care to share what the actual culprit was causing the CTDs we had?
