I have purchased many add ons with MSFS2020 all through the MS Marketplace. For various reasons I find that I am not using some of the items that I have purchased. These items are meant to be used, so I would love to be able to “Gift” these items to other MSFS users either one on one with sending the item to the profile of the user or maybe a way to just add them up for grabs for anyone that wants to take them?
Of course this would be with the understanding that you would loose all rights to using that product unless you purchased it again.
Perhaps an item could only be gifted on time to another user to prevent misuse of the system?
It would be nice to pass on my unplayed items to others that would enjoy them
I’ve voted for it, but I fear this sounds a little like a second hand game market being created. DRM solutions have been created to stamp that out. Pretty much gone are the days on PC where you could sell off your CD/DVD copies of games you are done with.
Would there be a time limit for this?
What if you gift something to someone, then they want to gift it on to someone else? What stops this addon being passed around the community for years?
Systems would need to be put in place to monitor every instance of an addon, how many times it had been used, who has owned it etc.
I feel like this system would be an even bigger one that simply giving us a valid receipt of purchase, which we still don’t have.
Perhaps each item purchased when gifted comes with a one time token that can been used to gift to one person only and nothing more.
I imagine some people would look to trade for something that they would like, so more of a one on one versus a marketplace for it. All that is needed is a page on the forum where people could offer items for trade or just gifts to others.
Already on Xbox you can gift a game or tokens to someone , so there is precedent set already. This is just now gifting something that you have already purchased.
I don’t think we would want to go towards an open market and selling items as there would be all kinds of legalities involved I’m sure.
