That’s great for you, but I have an issue somewhere, which is what I am asking the developer to offer advice on. Thanks though
This happened to me the first time I used it. After that it’s been fine. I don’t know if it does something the first time it’s used but that’s the only time this happened to me.
In fact I uninstalled it for a while and then had another go after someone mentioned it’s likely to be a one off hit.
this happens becauce the ships have to be converted, so when all are done, no more freezes, tkaes a lil time, different ships in different areas.
look in your communityfolder, there are about 360 or a bit more diff ones.
its a minor issue and will dissapear over time, fantastic addon.
Yeah I read about the conversion process and associated stuttering, but I’m not sure that’s what I’m experiencing. Getting freezes lasting minutes at a time - when the sim comes back to life my aircraft can be in the ground or half way to the moon! Wondering if there is any knows conflicts with particular settings or other addons, that might explain things.
Is there any way to manually convert all the ships?
nope, but always when having issues, first get back to play without any addons.
some addons may need updating, do you use addon linker, soo handy.
long stutters can depend on live traffic , multiplayer at some areas, stuff has to get loaded in.
For what its worth I have just installed the MOD and it works perfectly, no stutters or fps changes and no CTDs. Thanks a lot to the dev.
Do not remove the cvt folder … otherwise it will startvto regenerate the generated ships agian all over.
Can someone possibly model and add this new Thailand car ferry …
Ferry from South Thailand to Sattahip
If someone has been using this addon for a few months, chances are that he/she already has a fully native to msfs converted cvt folder with regenerated ships in their community folder. Then is it not possible for that person to upload that fully converted cvt folder to flightsim.to? Or is the reconverted cvt folder too large to upload? Just asking.
Hi,
It doesn’t work, probably because the sim somewhere keep account of what it converted (pure guessing though)… Second, please don’t ask “someone” to upload/share. The only one who will upload or share would be me, so ask me, however, the answer is it is not something I will work on. I am working on the real conversion, which will be far better. So keep patient and enjoy that it is free.
Henrik
Could be a nice addition at some point; I have long been wanting to add some Asian ferries - there are a few in the package, but far too few
And while you wait for an update… Another couple of freeware developers have been given permission to reference some of the ships for their projects - a very nice one is the Kiel Channel Scenery by Kielfjord:
Scenery_Kiel_Kieler-Foerde_Ships » Microsoft Flight Simulator
Another is Sergio del Rosso’s Milford Sound Airport:
Milford Sound Airport NZMF (New Zealand) v2.1 » Microsoft Flight Simulator
Finally I would like to recommend two Danish sceneries with maritime conncetion:
Soenico’s model of the old Storstrøms Bridge
Storstrømsbroen » Microsoft Flight Simulator
and TL_Creations Danish Lighthouses
Demo version | Full release out!- TL Lighthouse Denmark » Microsoft Flight Simulator
Of course, meant no offence to you. Love your addon and appreciate the time you’re putting into this for the benefit of the community. Will happily and patiently wait for you to finish the conversion.
You won’t have to wait that long before a small new addon will be released - DFDS’s newest ferry Côte d’Opale will soon join Dover-Calais in the real world https://www.dfds.com/en/passenger-ferries/onboard/dover-calais/new-ship and that I will celebrate by adding her in the sim… still a bit of work before completion but I hope to get there before she is added to the service.
The model will be in native MSFS format so it can serve as performance test. For that reason she will be in a separate package.
Amazing! Can’t wait to try her out!
Looks very cool. I wonder if it would be possible to make one of your Models drivable in FS? That was possible in FSX and there was a company that dealt with those ship addons. Off course not your ships.
No updates yet. The full package will only be updated late in the year - or maybe even later. A small extra package including the Côte d’Opale will however be launched soon.
Will this be updated to have wake effects following Sim Update 5?
No, because while it does contain the option of effects, the effects following the water surface or even interaction with the water surface as you see it in other simulators is not ready. Asobo has only scheduled wake effects for 2022… Maybe other effects like smoke or navigation lights will be added to the mini add-on I will do, but the problem with the Global AI Ship Traffic is that you can’t mix native and non-native models in one package, so it is either do the full stuff or leave it… Sorry, but this was started way before anybody thought about MSFS, so actually I am just happy that we can still get it to work in a decent way.
As I understand it, AND they have showed wake effects on the amphibious Cessna landing on water, it seems that it will come with the Simupdate 5 on July 27? Maybe it’s not that kind of effect that can be used with ships, but we can always hope that it will be.
