Would be nice, but the development update still says something else, but let’s cross our fingers.
SeaFront Simulations recently announced a global shipping add-on that will include boat wake effects with the upcoming Sim Update V
If what they promissed of 1.1 million movements is right and not just endless repetitions of the same few models, then I can retire
And just to make it very clear, no matter how many new features will come up in the sim, I will not release an update anytime soon. I have a full time job to care for. The ships are just a hobby project to relax and I will never stress to try to comply with the latest development…
This is the first time I have replied to this topic but I must say how amazed I am at the work you have put in to this very useful project and wish to say good luck to you in the future and look after yourself and your job.
GT
Amen to that !
And many many many many many thanks for your peacefull and relaxing contribution. As a Dane, I just can’t conceive, even a FLIGHT simmulator, environment without ships on the oceans/seas. I can sure sacrifice a lot of car movement, because they are too small to see when flying and kills the fps, but ships…my oh my…
And last but not least, I fly mostly in Scandinavia in the sim, and we do have a LOT of airports near or on the coasts, so your ships, really are an asset to those airports environment. Thank you again!
The Côte d’Opale is slowly getting ready - launch will be in August together with a small collection of native MSFS ships in a separate package. You will still have to imagine the final render, as I am far from my MSFS computer. The package will also include other ferries including routes in the Irish Sea and from Portsmouth to Santander and Cherbourg… and maybe even some orange ferries for New York as requested further up in this thread. At least I now got the drawings for the new Staten Island Ferries…
Staten Island Ferries would be great, Thanks very much!
Stena Line’s Stena Estrid, Stena Edda, and Stena Embla for Birkenhead - Belfast and Dublin - Holyhead
The hull and the main layout is the same as Côte d’Opale but the passenger area is extended to the aft and having more cabins for overnight voyages on the Irish Sea.
The wake effects are visible in the Xbox trailer, which is the same update we’re getting on PC on the 27th. This was also confirmed in one of the Q&As. The feedback snapshot is just outdated.
Though, who knows if they’ll be compatible with boats.
this mod is AMAZING! it would be mind blowing if the ships could have lights at night though. Thanks a lot for the work!
It’s real!
Looking good! This will add so much to the experience of flying around NYC.
I hope to add five ferries from Staten Island Ferries, and if I can find a drawing also some from NY Waterways. That should add some life.
If anybody has plans of any of the New York ferries please let me know.
the wake effects looked pretty crude in the trailer, as did the wheel particle fx
but at least it’s a starting place to improve…
The below is how it should look… It is one of my ships converted for DCS by a Brazilian friend. The wake is just super realistic and the fact that you can see the upper part of the hull in the water is just brilliant. But I think this is still far away in MSFS:…
yeah, that looks pretty solid…
this… is not filling me with hope
looks like a simple polygonal plane and scrolling texture
@hnielsen791 Now that’s what I’ve been wanting to see. Rode that thing more times than I can count, always fun going from the City back to the Island at 2AM on a Saturday night. So is that out?
And can you save me the torture of having to slog through almost 700 posts and tell me where to find it?
Kev
It should be ready for release in the second week of August - I hope; it depends a bit on the wake and effects coming up.
PS… If you, or anyone are in NY and uses any of the ferries there - almost all ferries have an obligatory emergency plan displayed in the public areas - a simple photo of such plans are a good base for modeling as long as it is taken more or less at 90 degrees angle and I would be very happy to receive such photos. In return you will get a really animated NY harbor
