You rode it that often? How come? For business or commuting?
In summer I frequently go to Lake Garda in Northern Italy. They have different ferries going back and forth all over the lake. Any chance to get them? They use boats, hydrofoils and catamerans.

For the time being AI ships on elevated surfaces like lakes will unfortunately not display in MSFS due to a bugā¦

@hnielsen791, I left NYC many years ago. Got tired of the taxes, the snow, the taxes, the tolls, the taxes, the high cost of living, and most of all, the taxes! 
Actually, there are a lot of things I miss about my old stomping grounds, but from what Iāve heard, since Covid and other events, the place has really gone downhill to the point that people even avoid going into Manhattan (āThe Cityā) if they can avoid it because itās not safe.
I lived there for 10 years give or take, and rode the ferry mostly for businessā¦ customer meetings and that sort of thing. We had an office in Manhattan, right next to MSG that was fun to work from, but fortunately I didnāt have to go every day. But also for our hard partying lifestyle on the weekends! We called it āBobā, which stood for āBig Orange Boatā. And if you look at some of the posts above mine, youāll see exactly why.

You will get a better render next week, when I am back on my home computer, but now the first three Staten Island Ferries are ready. SSG Michael H. Ollis, Dorothy Day, and Sandy Ground. That is actually a bit before they enter service in real life

Sorry, if itās been asked before. Iāve got almost 8gb worth of ships and animals in my GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT_ folder. Do you recommend deleting this every now and then to get newer ship models? Or there arenāt updated versions of files, just new ones, making clearing the downloads unnecessary?

Donāt deleteā¦ The CVT folder contains converted files, but unfortunately both the original and the CVT folder is needed, so it does take up some spaceā¦

@hnielsen791 Are you hosting this on flightsim dot to, or somewhere else. Iām 99% sure I have an older version installed, maybe even current if itās from dot to, because I tend to keep those updated on a regular basis. Other sites, not so much.
There has just been one version for MSFS launched in March - it can be found on flightsim.to, flightsimnorway.com, and simviation.com
has anyone tried mod?
with legacy plane models, the new update creating cvt files of textures only but not model cvt.

I seem to be getting these ships at the gates are airports post update. Its the best close up look that Ive had at most of them, which is cool. But probably not ideal for emersion.
The two ships look very much like the default container ship dressed up with an airline textureā¦ Is this something new which happend after the latest update? I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with Global AI Ship Traffic, but would be interesting to figure out what is happening - and report to Asobo.
The road ahead after the latest Simupdateā¦
First up will be a small extension with native models some time in Augustā¦ It will be a new download which can be used together or without the Global AI Ship Traffic main package, However apart from adding new ships it will also come with effects attached
In order to move the more than 1300 models of Global AI Ship Traffic to native format it is as previously mentioned a time consuming process, and I canāt mix native and non native models in one package, so I either I wait until all are upgraded and relaunch or I create a new native package and start expanding that oneā¦
I have chosen the later, so what will happen is that little by little the extension which will be launched in August will be upgraded receiving sister ships of those included in the main package but converted to native format and with effects added. Once all models are converted the Global AI Ship Traffic will be relaunched in native format - and there will be somewhere well above 2000 different ships in the packageā¦
To start up what will be launched in August will be:

5 models of Staten Islands ferries Alice Austen, John A. Noble, SSG Michael H.Ollis, Dorothy Day, and Sandy Ground

A number of other small passenger ferries and tugs for New York

3 new Stena Line ferries for the Irish Sea between UK and Ireland

2 new Brittany Ferries models serving routes between France, Spain and the UK

5-6 new LNG carriers

A couple of new yachts

A large number of container ships, bulk carriers and other ships carried over from Global AI Ship Traffic - these will be sister ships put on new routes.

I was going to suggest the Sheppler mackinaw ferries, but Asobo hadnāt fixed the great lakes issue yet.
I actually found drawings for them a while ago, but yes, as long as this height problem is not resolved, it isnāt much fun. I might decide on a workaround in connection with the new extension package, but I have to see if it works and I am currently very farā¦ 10.447 kilometres to be exact - from my MSFS computer.
