First: Thank you very much for bringing this to MSFS. I never had so much fun flying over water as with this mod
Unfortunately yesterday I realized that I can not load a flight departing from Cairo. The Flight loads to around 50% and then is stuck. To make sure it is not another problem, I removed all mods first. Sim loads fine. Then I added back the Evergiven Stuck in the Suez canal and the Sim stopped loading at the same point. So I left that one out and added the Global AI Ship Traffic mod again. Then it was stuck again. So I have to leave out my āship modsā it seems, for whatever reason.
I flew around in other parts of the world since SU5 with no issues. Maybe someone can cross-check by only activating this mod and trying to load a flight departing from Cairo Intl?
Yeah this ship mod severely increases loading times for me. I suppose thatāll be fixed with the native versions beginning in August; which, by the way, I cannot wait for as well as effects
I suppose you mean loading time at start up / restart. The loading type unfortunately doesnāt depend on native or non-native models but purely on the amount of AI routes. In short you will with native models get rid of stutters at the first encounter with an unconverted ship, but the loading time at start up depends on the amount of traffic. For more details look in the post here.
I am personally far away from my MSFS computer until late next week so I canāt test - as I understand you had no problems before SU5, but now you experience issues in Egypt - did you remove files like recommended by Asobo before upgrading? The Evergiven scenery exist in different versions - some referencing ships from the Global AI Ship Traffic, one with a Evergreen repaint included and also referencing ships from Global AI Ship Traffic, and one only referencing one of the default shipsā¦ Which version do you have? If there is a link between the ships and your issue I guess it would be somewhere in that reference chain
I have noticed with SU5, there stutters were really bad when it was converting the models. I hope with the native models we will be able to enjoy this awesome mod with no stutters
@hnielsen791 : I have to apologize! It has zero to do with your awesome Mod! I was able to reproduce it multiple times yesterday (activated your Mod, flight would not load at HECA, deactivating your Mod, flight would load again). I promise, I tested multiple times and this was the point where I created the post. But today itĀ“s different and after a few hours I tracked it down (again, at least for today ;-). I will create a Zendesk Ticket, because I was able to reproduce the issue with a 0 Mods MSFS about 6 times now.
IĀ“m sorry if I caused any confusion and I hope you did not spend time trying to figure out what the problem might be yet. Your work is highly appreciated. Thank you very much
awesome job you are doing hnielsenā¦hat off to you and thanks a gazillion
Thanks for returning and happy to know that the culprit wasnāt the ships There are a lot of packages now referencing ships from the Global AI Ship Traffic and even if I think it is quite resilient in case you install/uninstall in connection with Asobo upgrades, I am not sure.
Another nice addon referencing my ships - and also using - with permission - a modificated version of one of my tankers is Rodrigo Moraesās Santos oil field launched this week - It includes the first FSPOs in MSFS and they are landable with helicopters. For those who donāt knowā¦ an FSPO is a Floating Storage and Offloading Unit used a off shore oild fields - often converted oil tankers. Check it out here:
To reach the oil field you can take off from e.g. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Hello,
does AI ship traffic have any connection with incoming Seafront Simulation products ?
- VESSELS : ENHANCED AI
- VESSELS : GLOBAL SHIPPING
or are they developed by different teams ? are they compatible ?
Thank you for your feedbacks.
Eric
Do you have to do the conversion manually? No automation possible, like batch processing?
No, I do not have anything to do with the Seafront payware product. Nor is anyone else from the Global AI Ship Traffic project involved - we are all freeware developers doing this for fun
Regards to compatibility I canāt answer until I test it, which I wonāt do until next week, when I am back in Denmark. In theory there is no issue as AI ships are supposed to avoid each other - however, depending on where and how routes are placed you could have a complete mess with the two installed at the same time - ships will end on top of each others at ports, get stuck crossing each other at sea, collideā¦
I have gone to great lengths trying to avoid collisions and funny evasion movements of ships by keeping routes distanced - the AI engine of the sim is quite simple and while it might be artificial it is not too intelligent, so when you load in loads of ships they simply get stuck - that is especially true for larger ships.
What you will get right now if you go for the payware is wakes - and higher density of ships - but it is according to Seafront Simulations with much fewer models than the Global AI Ship Traffic and not with regionalized models like in the Global AI Ship Traffic, where fishing boats in Scandinavia are truely Scandinavian, in Argentina Argentinian, Brazil Brazilian and so forthā¦ ferries are the real ferries etcā¦ I actually just took pictures for more Brazilian fishing boats the day before yesterday
I suppose they will go adding models, but I think they should answer for that. For the moment I will limit myself to say that I will comment on compatibility next week.
Below an Argentinian fishing boat from Global AI Ship Trafficā¦ and psā¦ regards to wakes they will be implemented according to the schedule posted above - first ones in a new package in August
I do new PBR texturesā¦ Wakes and other effects also needs to be added according to specific models. I would have loved a short cutā¦ And if there are texture masters out there, please send me a PMā¦
Hi Mr. Nielsen
Before the update I also moved the GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT_ and hoped for a new one after reactivating the GAIST_MSFS_V1. It did but without any traffic, even after 30 minutes Gibraltar was empty. So I moved the CVT back and Voila, traffic as before. So everything seems fine.
About the Payware, I donāt think I wont to get that one, as I see on their pictures they have some 10 different ships, thatās nothing compared to your tremendous freeware work.
One day, I hope to see what we haven talked about. Have a nice trip back to Denmark.
You will for sure get that Also the āoldieā - it is not forgotten. Just it is a long request listā¦
Today working on yet another New York ferry while it is freezing cold here in Sao Pauloā¦ woke up to 3 degrees celciusā¦
I realized that now this GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT_ is shown as ānot installedā in my content manager, no matter if the original folder is in or out the community folder. And I see no ships at all. What am I doing wrong here?
Thank you hnielsen791 for your comment ! then, Iāll wait for your test.
Regarding your efforts for ships localization & model diversity, why not considering a partnership with Seafront Simulations ? i believe you can help each other to bring us the best experience
Thank you anyway for your great work and immersion that you bring to our favorite sim !
I am not into paywareā¦ I have a good daytime job and I donāt think it would be fair to transfer 1300+ models that you can have for free to become payware - and the effort to carry them over would be the same with or without Seafront Simulations which is apparently also just one or two persons working in their sparetime.
I totally forget about there was a forum with this freeware alternative. Glad I found it. Seems to be working well with SU5
Thanks for the news and donĀ“t get a cold.
