5700X3D RTX 4070 32gb RAM
High-End settings. Near L52 5000ft. After new patch.(It was the same before the patch)
My work around for now is: disable photogrammetry. I like the sim more without, for now it looks much better and provides more smoothness in big metropolitan areas.
How surprising.
This game is doomed with its staggering amount of bugs.
You don’t even need to load into a flight, you can see that it’s still the same on the world map. I’m noticing a slight (very slight) improvement after deleting my rolling cache then letting the sim make a new one.
@KnightofNi312 I have two questions.
-
How does the cache affect the quality of textures and LODs?
-
Where can I clear the cache?
Thank you
The cache stores stuff from the sim as you fly, saves redownloading it if you load back into that same area. It’s possible (going off what FS2020 sometimes did) that old textures and objects with previous LOD models or textures, get stuck in the cache when there’s been an update, so if you delete the cache, it’ll just refresh it with a new one. Obviously, the drawback is, it’ll have to download the area you’re flying in again. But the upside is, at least it’ll be fresh new data. As I say, I’ve only noticed an extremely slight improvement.
3rd post down on this thread should help if you’re on MS Store version? Uninstall does not clear rolling cache
Also, once you do this be sure to to back into Online options in the sim to change the size of the cache back to your preference as it’ll default to 16gb.
Thank you. It is not clear to me where I can clear the cache. The link page is not clear. Is there a normal, understandable description of how to clear the cache somewhere?
Bro it happens with anything i fly(172, pc12, the blimp, egc) I can fly up with the drone camera, leave my computer, make lunch, come back 30 min later and itll still look like this so its definetly still asobos garbage servers.
Does this help?
I cleared the cache. No change. The visuals are still disappointing. All the textures are blurry.
In my opinion, it’s a tragedy that the developer didn’t address the horrible textures, LOD issues. These are very serious problems. We’re left with a disappointing, flawed simulator for the holidays. In my opinion, this simulator will never be good.
I’m going back to MSFS2020.
the new patch didn’t change anything, huge disappointment. The quality is like FSX…
i really don’t understand, it’s more terrible than MSFS 2020
Understand what? They are images, just look. FS2024 (non-Asobo magic trailer images) vs FSX (youtube caps).
Ok, the bar has changed to 2020. So you admit it’s not exactly as bad as FSX? You’re just being hyperbolic then.
It’s important to understand all the variables at play that contribute to MSFS “looking good”. Everything from time, season, weather, software settings, hardware settings etc. I really do believe the game looks sht for many people, but I really don’t believe it’s inherent to the game since it can look so amazing for others, which means the game has the capacity to do so in its current state.
i mean that MSFS2024 must be way better than MSFS2020, imagine that now MSFS2024 quality is near to be as FSX quality lol
Hi all
Until a few days ago I had blurry ground textures and melted buildings and trees. The sim looked WAY worse for me than in MSFS 2020 and I was ready to uninstall and revert back to 2020 despite being an ardent supporter of what Microsoft and Asobo are trying to accomplish here.
I’ll preface this by saying I’ve only got a mid-range system (w/ RTX3080 GPU) and I’m attempting to run VR, so I was always going to be facing an uphill battle. What I was expecting to see however was a performance hit, rather than a quality hit, so I was really disheartened by the poor quality of what I was seeing in the sim.
I’d seen a few of you suggesting increasing the terrain level of detail, but that had no effect for me. I’d also seen one or two of you suggesting ensuring that “dynamic settings” was turned off, which also had no effect for me.
HOWEVER after turning dynamic settings off and giving it another try, I then went back into the settings menu only to find that dynamic settings was still showing as enabled i.e. the setting hadn’t stuck.
So I disabled the setting again and restarted the sim. I then went back into the settings menu and confirmed dynamic settings was still disabled, and that I had a sufficiently high terrain level of detail setting (as well as bumping buildings and trees up to high) and started another test flight…
and THIS CHANGED EVERYTHING. The sim looks amazing for me now that my settings are actually being honoured, instead of being controlled by that nasty dynamic settings feature.
Performance-wise it runs like an absolute dog, but I’m reasonably confident with a hardware upgrade and a bit more tweaking it’ll finally be everything it was promised to be.
Hope this helps some of you
I took some comparison shots today. The pictures speak for themselves. The visuals, texture quality, and LOD settings of MSFS 2024 are disappointing.
I just have a feeling that seasons is not doing good for ground textures atm seeing those pics.. a lot of places are so much worse then msfs2020
Also the performance is still so weird streaming.
I flew over TNCM princess Juliana St Maarten. Low range gaming laptop so i maxed out between 15 and 20 fps… then landed with like 13 fps and taxied to a parking… fropped to 10 fps and went to 20 when i parked for a while…did a engine off and on and taxied to the runway and just stuttering and freezing with between 5 and 8 fps. Hardly any fps to take off and lets say 200 feet above ground it went up again to 15/18 fps… then some other plane bumped into me and i just exit, but when you are flying around a area wasnt is supposed to stay smoother loading in scenery??
also, what i going on with the water?
I agree in generall but the issues on your pictures are related to the Seasons. Change your month to April/July/August and you will see the colours change depending on summer, spring or winter.
Thats how it is in reallife too
