VFlyteAir Simulations have made this aircraft for earlier iterations of X-plane and seem to be upgrading it for XP12. I have emailed them to ask if they plan to develop it for MSFS as (from my limited knowledge) the two sims have very similar requirements. When (if) I get a reply I’ll share it here…
They have a discord server for this AA5 here: Discord. If more people ask maybe it gets moved up the queue. im exlusive to MSFS but ill buy X-Plane just for the grumman if i have to.
after email contact with Rich at VFlyte he indicates their priority is to upgrade their products for XP12 first and foremost. He later responded that finding out there is interest for the Grumman Tiger here is news to them. He says bringing the 3D model over from XP to MS is the easier part - it’s getting the flight model and cockpits to function that has the learning curve and challenging time investment to deal with.
I do think that if folks are interested in having a Tiger in MSFS and don’t mind taking the time to let VFlyte know about it - it could help them make a decision… www.vFlyteair.com
The Robin Regent for some reason always makes me think of a Cheetah my dad use to rent when I was a kid. Hopefully we’re going for the last AG version. But a normal B would work. He was going to buy one but ended up with an Archer II
The USAF never did use the Grumman AA-5. But lots of owners like to paint their planes up. And, as is often the case, a lot of people get lots of things wrong when they’re painting their planes.
People like updates, he’s obviously proud of his work here, so he chose this.
I’m finding myself flying more precise planned flight narrowed down to only a few GA aircraft these days, and the rest I’m looking for visceral and clunky Sunday morning tootle aircraft, the less sophisticated the better. I don’t need more alternatives to the FSR500, SR22T, Kodiak, or 414, they do what they do as well as you can.
I want more creaky squeaky buttkicker head-tracking rentals. They’ll move well enough into 2024 scenery. I want to go to the virtual field sometimes without a plan and decide between an Archer II, JP152, 172 Hawk, or something just like THIS. Sign up for 2 hours and go do a pre-walk and get away from controlled airspace asap. Hit a couple of those old FBO’s where there’s always people hanging out on the weekend.
