GTN 750 with Touchscreen question?

Can you use the GTN 750 with touchscreen without a knobster?

Can you operate everything with the touchscreen?

Yes. But…

The sim doesn’t have native touch screen support. But if you use Popout Manager at the link below, it will automatically pop out the window for you, place it on your touch screen, and enable a touch to mouse click emulation allowing you to use it as a touch screen.

The TDS 750xi works splendidly on touchscreen and is so good that I would never put it into the virtual cockpit. It is fantastic to use and once tried, you would be hooked.

Does it impact much on frame rates having it running on a separate touchscreen?

Also what size touchscreen would you recommend to use?

I have no impact at all from using both the 750 and 650 together on a touchscreen and no, it is not just using a powerful CPU/GPU either. Until the arrival of my new machine this year, I was running this combination on an ancient i7 2700K and a 1660 super.

I find for me that a 1080 15 inch touchscreen works very well indeed, and in the above config leaves 25% of the screen free for other programs to use. Not only that, but the 1080 screens are fairly cheap too.

The only impact is the frame rate loss on popping out a window, which hopefully should be a thing of the past as of SU11. Hopefully. It sort of kind of maybe sometimes somewhat works in the SU11 beta now, depending on a bunch of factors.

Touch screen has no impact. The sim doesn’t care what kind of display it’s running on. You can run it off an old tablet using SpaceDesk and that works fine. Many people currently do that so they can use tablets as touch screens for Air Manager instead of buying new screens.

You don´t need an extra touch screen. If you have a tablet at home you can add it as extra display to Windows via WiFi with Duet Display or any similar app. That´s more than enough in size to operate GPS or any undocked panel you want. It has no performance impact as it´s just an extension of Windows desktop as any other monitor but much smaller in size.
