That’s the place! The movie has a cool scene of a Bell helicopter landing on the beach.
Sorry it was such a dodgy shot. If I guess another one , I’ll be sure to pick better - you and @Baracus250 can definitely share that one! ![]()
OK, I left the topic for a few days and it seems you have been active here. @mbraortns was right, this is southern coast of Wales.
Quite correct, well done ![]()
How did you figure it out
, it’s interesting to hear about your process.
Well, I spent hours and hours studying coastlines of places I thought might look like that – a fairly large half moon bay cut in half by a manmade pier – and I searched with both Bing maps and the flight planner map. I was down to Africa because I’d searched everywhere else.
So…
Wow, good effort!!! Even “only” scanning Africa coastline would take hours, let alone doing everywhere else first! Dedication ![]()
On the right there is the start of an alluvial fan and a small amount of vegetation. Is the sea off to the right or is this way inland?
The deserts are many and massive so I am asking if this is Africa?
There are no oceans or seas near and it is not Africa. The mesh has pretty good detail don’t you think?
I am sure you kindly provided a clue, which I need to figure out in addition to the picture now

I thought it was a grand clue, myself ![]()
I would hazard a guess as one of the mesas near Monument Valley US. But no time to go search them all. Correct continent at least?
very close – go 10 to 20 miles north and 100 to 120 miles west. Its on an Indian reservation apparently. Its also fairly small – 2 to 3 hundred feet in diameter.
It is on the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians reservation, approx. 9 NM south of Kanab Mun. (KKNB) by Flat Tops peak (1414m):
Wow, well found, it was a hard one ![]()
That be it! your turn ![]()
This site receives tens of thousands of visitors a year from all over the world. It would be nice if it were a POI, but it isn’t, and the auto-generation of the procedural building has removed the entire upper section of the structure:
Correct! Well done! - Your turn…
