Its been like a kid looking in the candy store… I have flown FS since it was 4.0. All the alpha and preview videos looked so good that I thought the devs would have planned some things better …

I downloaded the base install through the store days before the release. At midnight, I was there waiting to fire it up… yeah… this was good, I have the basic software, and with the updates and unlocking of game servers, I could be up and running, downloading my little sliver of the world, and letting the other content slowly trickle in over time.

Was i wrong!!! Yes, I tried to install it on my laptop and pc so I could switch between them… surprise… you CAN’T! Your login forces you to install ONE at a time ? What has installing got to do with that??? Ok fine… this is a new cloud model, i get that you have one instance running… OK…

Oh wait… I have to update MS Store? Get a XBox gamebar update? Could any of that have been spelt out in a install guide instead of those (Lovely) splash screens? Yeah I know they are on the website, but that is just lazy…

Fine… OK… I dowloaded it over night… fired it up. It got me through planning, and panned around my home airport, with my callsign, in a 172… and CRASHED. I haven’t been able to run and trouble shoot it, because guess, what… I am trying to download to my pc to see if it will run there.

My laptop is an ASUS ROG Zephyrus, with RTX 2080 card and Windows 10 with all the bells and whistles. I would be happy with 1 fps just to look around. Nothing. Nada.

Yes, i have the latest NVidia drivers, and Windows 10 2004 (silly me to upgrade it)… I don’t relish going back to 19xx and reinstalling, redownloading this… so…

my feedback to the team : great concept and platform, and I appreciate the chance to get my hands on it, bugs and all. Hats off… BUT

  1. Ship us Flash Drives with the Software if you are sorry. We will pay for them if cash is a problem. We can’t deal with this unfriendly install process.

  2. Please separate core program install from EVERYTHING else — if you want people to play this game. We will be happy with flying these aircraft and getting the airports and other aircraft on our own time.

  3. Give us an option to buy the scenery. I don’t want the whole world (some people might), but I would love to have a continent or two without having to dig through my file cache …

  4. You have the Azure cloud. Why are downloads so slow??? Did you not think that all the hype you were creating would not create a feeding frenzy day 1?

Feels like this was a “business decision”… go back to the business and tell them they have some apologizing to do. Fix it please.

Couple of things. I run flight simulator with a Ryzen 5-1600 , GTX 1070 and 16 gigs Ram. I am able to run the sim on High and some sliders Ultra. So it does not need a beast to run well, I would say my computer is mid-grade.

Flight Simulator does a lot of downloading behind the scenes while your flying, I have seen 300-600 kbps to 5-10 Mbps in denser scenery areas. What preset level are you for graphics.

Are you Wi-Fi or plugged in with Ethernet Cable?

I have only a few runs on my laptop without crashing … but frame rates are very good — its hyper finicky -any settings changes … ( chg keyboard mappings(!) , breathe on my connection ) and it crashes.

I have go flight yoke, tq6 throttle quadrant with flaps and spoilers, and gfrc rudder pedals. Calibrating them is turning out be an adventure… dead zones dont flip ( or appear not to ) when axes are reversed. More fiddling…

Its beginning to breathe… nuked my pc install and started all over again… i have faith i will get there eventually…

KORH is home base, got 5 min flying around… looks really good.

Its unfortunate we have to wade through this to get there, but i have faith!
