Hard Winter in the sim?

How do you get hard winter in the sim? I set the date in Minneapolis’s Flying Cloud airport one month out to December and found no snow on the ground. I then changed it to January and still no snow which never happens in real life. Thanks for any help with this.

I think that’s because seasons aren’t really implemented (yet?).

Correct, no seasons in the sim yet. They’re planning to add them, but they want to do it right, so we have no timeline on the release of that feature yet.

have you tried lowering the temps?

maybe you can have snow in summer just lowering the temperatures. Try it in winter though.

Just found out you manually set it in the weather menu. Now seeing how this works with cross country flying playing with the weather settings in flight.

Ey! may I ask you to tell us your experience flying in cold weather? I am afraid of the icing condition, maybe the plane picks ice too easily. I just want an opinion, thankss

Remember it isn’t the cold that kills you, it’s the moisture! Stay out of the clouds, or any visible moisture, and you normally won’t have to worry about icing. If you do wander into a cloud, get out as soon as you can, or find warmer conditions ASAP. Otherwise you may find out (as many have IRL) that icing is a killer!

There’s really no problem in the sim if your being serious. The Longitude’s deicing doesn’t work as it should and a higher landing speed is needed. Until Asobo fixes the season issue 10 minutes before ATC clears me for decent I switch to the ‘snow’ option in the weather menu. I adjust the clouds and snow level among other things. That way I’m flying into a Winter destination that looks amazing. Leaving out in snowing conditions I do the same and revert back to ‘Live’ weather once at cruise before I use the sim’s ‘Jump to’ option which get’s me 100 miles out from my top of decent. This is for times when I don’t want to fly the full route.

Turn snowfall up with clear skies. It will layer the area with a blanket of now even if its not snowing
