Flying NDB approaches with a B737 classic with thunderstorm clouds while landing on airports at night with nothing but a weak VASI is way easier than flying pretty much any SE aircraft in this game, good lord.
I understand that this game is at Alpha stage, and it has extremely great potential. What I simply don’t understand is the U-turn on carrying over the previous flight controls from FS2020? Why is it the complete opposite? It is back to FS2020 for me and I am looking forward to this game down the road but again, why totally going the opposite direction with flight controls beats me. I mean, you can’t even trim the plane without it moving camera view angle for instance, let alone the horrible over sensibility…
I don’t mind the airplanes parked mid-air, passengers sticking out of the aircraft, airport buildings that look like they got bombed and so on, but please, at least the controls could have been made good.
Well, I don’t understand your problem. So maybe it is just you.
What exactly is “complete opposite”?
Trimming doesn’t move my camera, and the controls are no more sensitive than FS2020. So yeah, I don’t get it.
I am using a controller (I don’t have room on my desk, nor do I need cockpit controls at home).
Trimming (R+UP/DOWN on right D-Pad) on 2020 trims the plane, here it weakly trims the plane (way slower) while also moving the camera controls around, which is abysmal in every situation when it is most critical to use it, especially to counter the over-extreme sensitive controls).
I have been going over steam and forum reviews after I made my post and can see plenty have the same issues, safe to say the game needs fixing.
As for people that “welcome” this sensitivity, I can tell you one thing, if you would hop into a real plane, you’ll break the plane and yourself (I flew 23 different types of airplanes, they are all easier to handle than any plane in this game with a controller, just saying). This is beyond ridiculous, at least ,if you are using a controller.
Controls with a controller for FS2020 was actually really balanced and good, even with a lot of the flight-aids turned off, which was my case. No idea why it’s the complete opposite here. You do not make something a “more authentic experience” by increasing sensitivity, that’s exactly what aircraft manufacturers and engineers try to avoid. Quick and abrupt flight adjustments make part of any aircraft that is not fly-by-wire, so you don’t want to have controls that react brutally to any Millimeter adjustment, it will kill you.
You say that flying in FS24 is harder than flying in real life. Are you a real life B737 pilot yourself?
Like Youudai5178 says, I too cannot understand your issue with trim moving camera. It certainly doesn’t move my camera. You haven’t got trim and camera bound to the same key, have you?
Actually no, I am also a B737/B738 and E190/95 rated pilot (also GIV SP and G550) I used the classic as it was my first Turbofan that I flew, and you do not have the luxury of Next Gen systems to do the flight for you, incl. flying NDB approaches. Also when I say rated, meaning, I did the whole type training and didn’t just sit on the right and have someone give me a SIC-Only endorsement.
I am using the preset controls in FS2024, it trims the plane weakly and too slow compared to FS2020 and moves the camera angle in the slightest Millimeter movement, all of which did not happen in 2020.
Does anyone know how to switch the controls back to 2020 for controller? It works with the keyboard (well, more or less), there is an option that allows it but not with controllers.
After flying the PMDG 738 in fs20 it sure is a wild ride jumping into the B738M in fs24. Surviving the authentic MCAS experience is frightening enough. That stab trim is wild. The aircraft seems to be completely out of whack, especially trying to get configured for approach/landing.
Something is very wrong with that aircraft and that stab trim.
