I don’t know what is going on here (other than another possible 2024 “thing”), but I was instructed to hold the brakes and apply full throttle.
I did this and the aircraft began moving. I looked down at the pedals, lifted my feet, saw them pivot up as though released, reapplied my feet, saw them pivot forward as though fully applied and, yet, nothing – no brakes, at all.
What gives?
It gets worse, you’re told to maintain a 15 degree climb angle to maintain 68 knots, but this is impossible, because at 15 degrees the aircraft cannot maintain that speed. You end up backing off on the climb angle to get the 68 knots requirement, but you then end up with an abysmal score on the climb due to having to meet impossible goals.
Did anyone actually test this?
Here’s a video clip of the behavior. Note the brakes are ON when I first glance down at my feet. Watch as I lift and apply them with no apparent effect on the aircraft.
(Look at the tire marks in the “gravel” from my last attempt! Those look like, what, 6 inches deep? What is that, mud? Is that why I’m just sliding through it? There is zero adhesion in slippery mud??)

2024 never ceases to amaze me with the undiscovered nonsense.
What ever will I come across next?!

My advice: Manage this exercise somehow and press ‚next‘.
