Thanks for your question. I watch the live streams but I’m not sure that they contradict my impressions. Take a look at how many likes the following post got.
Hello everyone,
just a quick reminder, that similar topics escalated in the past. Keep on the constructive tone, so we don’t need to take actions.
Thank you.
Conspiracy theories can be a dangerous thing…
Yes conspiracy theories are dangerous things
But as for SU8 being great? Looking at the changelog they’ve fixed a lot of stuff that many of us didn’t even know existed.
Any bug fixing is to be welcomed of course so in that respect well done but how about fixing the glitches that we all suffer from?
I suspect they are waiting for third party developers to solve some of the bugs, bugs that they will never address.
Just because you were not aware of some issues, doesn’t mean they are unimportant. Naturally people focus on what is important for them, but the range of stuff people find important is huge. For someone, fixing the lights for a knob is important, for someone else the VR settings, for another one the behaviour of steering planes in water or the shape of the mountains in the area where they live.
Usually when you determine the scope of a release such as this you look at variety of aspects, where one part is listening to users. However, there are other aspects to consider too, maybe some low hanging fruit is good to take care of in order to remove things from the backlog, maybe they need to do things to keep the code clean? It could also be that changing A is required in order to later change B and C. It’s easy to neglect dependencies if you look at things from the outside.
In other words you’ve made something up lol.
SU8 was mostly a fix for developers and Asobo itself, SU9 will be mostly for users. Overall it takes time and if you want a finished product, wait for ten years as Microsoft announced it would take them. No? Okay, then enjoy what you have and wait for what’s coming.
Were we not sold a finished product? The 10 year journey was for support or what?
They’re working on capturing the entire planet that we live on into a digital cloud. This effort won’t be just for flight simulator but every possible game/utility you can imagine. Battlefields in games too will never look the same once they’re done.
If you can’t appreciate that effort and that journey …If you don’t see it. Well, you just don’t see it.
No I can see it. I’m just wondering, you say the developers are spending their time capturing the planet instead of fixing bugs in MS Flight Simulator?
Yes. There is solely one software developer, sitting behind a desk, nine to five with 1,5 hour breaks, doing all this. It’s either developing, fixing or capturing. That is why it takes long. Uhuh. Hmmhm. Yeah.
Then why not communicate that?
Somethiing like: “We are fixing this part of the code in order to lay the foundations for an AI fix” (or whatever major dysfuntional part of the sim you care to choose.)
Also if they were listening to customers they would have fixed AI by now…but no they’ve left it to third parties to sort out. Although disingenuous it makes perfect, if some what cynical commercial sense, let someone else do it.
OP almost totally speculative. Some speculation is always useful but there should at least be some circumstantial evidence as foundation.
I believe that they have modified the base of the simulator for the better, but a great improvement entails small setbacks, and in this case that is what has happened and nobody manifests itself on the part of Asobo because it is seen that it is what they expected from the beginning
I don’t think it’s the developers. The issue is that after an amazing sim has been released the community has acquired a super inflated sense of what is to come. I fly in VR, mostly GA aircraft, as far as I can tell this sim is better than anything else that’s currently on the market. Some hardware combinations may have stability issues with the sim, but overall it seems awesome to me. It’s probably the first sim where you can fly VFR GA in VR and, other than non-visual/audible senses, feel like you’re really flying. I think we need to have realistic expectations and keep in mind that major changes take time.
i think it’s complete nonsense and not worth to be discussed.
What hardware specs do you have? Maybe you need a better system.
For me and probably 90% of folks have been having positive experiences with latest updates.
Sorry it’s not working out for you.
I feel that I have not been fully understood by everyone. I am not saying that our sim is not getting better or that we should leave it behind. I just have the impression that since SU5 there is not so much enthusiasm on the part of Asobo to keep pushing it towards perfection.
If there is one thing that can demotivate any developer, it’s a thread like this where they’re told that their efforts and long working hours are not appreciated by many members of the community.
I would tend to agree, since SU5 I have not seen any improvements only degradation in graphical quality in various aspects, LOD distances, clouds, lighting, weather etc.
Sure maybe the weather/clouds may not seem as great as the initial launch. However, I personally see great improvements in performance without anymore degradation as everything is on high and ultra in 2D. I was at the gate at LVFR’s KMIA and the MOD 787, live traffic and it was smooth as I spawned view in exterior, it used to stutter quite a bit. Now it’s silky smooth while looking gorgeous.
As far as VR goes though I noticed photogrammetry morphs and doesn’t form correctly until i get closer to the skyscrapers. Other than that performance also improved for me in VR as I increased render scale to 100 where as it was very choppy before.
Expectations, guys.
SU8 was never meant to be an exciting upgrade, a big step forward, or a game changer. It was about fixing bugs, nothing more. It has done this very well.
